1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
both. Hell swirl them into the same mug with rum for all I care
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
wrapped. The badly wrapped ones are from me
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white colored on tree.
COLOR. How boring is all white (looking sideways at my sister in law here)
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
only if someone wants smacked.
5. When do you put your decorations up?
I only half ass some decorations. I always end up at my parents’ place. Mom decorates to the nines. However any attempt to decorate before 12/1 gets you shot.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
the lobster tails and asti spumonti
7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
you know as lapsed as I am now, I used to love Midnight Mass. The REAL Midnight Mass where there were no lights but the candles the congregation held and the singing. I miss that. Ten o’clock ‘midnight mass’ isn’t the same thing. There had been something special about that. I wouldn’t call it my favorite memory but it’s the one thing I miss.
The family gathering is always fun to watch. It’s like something out of Godfather with all those little thick-necked Italians running around.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
no clue. I suspect some older kid told me. I do have two other memories here that almost go with #7. the year Dad shot Rudolph (that’ll teach my brother to go on and on about him) I distinctly remember the bright red light and the sounds of a shotgun (and dad wonders why I’m messed up) and the year I nearly knifed Santa. My parents had taken my brother somewhere, probably just down to Grandma’s and let me home alone. I was probably 12 or 13. But it was dark and someone came to the door. I answered it chef’s knife in hand. Santa almost got it
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
we used to open our stocking gifts after midnight mass. But now that my brother is married and goes to his wife’s house for Christmas Day we open the gifts Christmas Eve but I save all the gifts from my friends to open Christmas Day
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
Well mostly if I get home in time, there’s dad screaming at us for having too much Christmas shit. Mom singing along badly to the Christmas cd’s, and me threatening to strangle mom with Christmas lights and planting the tree in her ass if she doesn’t stop moving every ornament I put up and tell me I’m doing it wrong. I’m 30 something. I know how to trim a tree
And let’s not forget the Star Trek only ornament tree.

12. Can you ice skate?
I used to but I wouldn’t even attempt it now
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Books and fossils.
14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you?
seeing the rest of the family I suppose

baklava

it used to be my advent calendar. I guess now it’s hanging all the holiday cards on the door like wallpaper

Depends. We have several. Mom rotates them

giving. I have fun with it
