happy Yule to me

I got to spend it with my brother at the casino. He spent the trip down there teasing me about riding in a Hummer (though let's be honest the H3 that he has is no bigger than any other SUV), we get there and within 20 minutes I try to cash out of a machine and it jams. Sigh. Not uncommon mind you and neither is the 15 minute wait for service (Vegas this is not)
I was however irritated that the two ladies who came to help spent more time talking than helping. FInally they decide that they can't help and call a tech. He at least is helpful and gets it unjammed only to find that the machine says it paid out but the jammed slips are blank so he writes the code and calls for a validation manager. We wait...and wait for at least another 15 minutes. In fact he sees her come down and ignores us and leaves me with another tech so he can chase her down. He keeps apologizing to me since this is really bad service.
He tells her what happened and gives her the slip wtih the numbers on it. She goes off to the cashiers and he tells me to follow her when it's obvious she's actually stopped and is talking to the manager from the non-smoking side of the casino. I get close enough to hear her actually bitching about having to go do this for a piddling 12 dollar ticket. SHe then sees me and says, 'what are you doing here? Go wait by your machine.' Now i'm ticked at her tone and said your tech told me to go with you. She glares and says he should never have said that. Fine I go back to the machine.
Another 15 minutes passes and the tech sees me there and asks, 'you have to be kidding me, she's not back yet?' no. He apologizes again. My brother swings by and he's hving no luck. I tell him what's happening. He rolls his eyes and goes into the other side of the casino. Finally the manager returns and says she has to wait for upstairs to confirm that this machine didn't pay me (it's 12 freaking dollars not 1200) and it'll be another 10-15 minutes and I should 'play the machines in the area so she can find me' She takes my name and leaves.
The tech spots me and says 'you HAVE to be kidding.' I tell him what she said about not believing it didn't pay me and he was now mad since she was questioning HIM too. He goes off to find her. My brother finds me again. He's won 300$ and wants to go home. He filters back off while i wait.
After a half hour of playing in the area on machines i don't even like (but i'm too bored to stand there any longer) I've discovered my players' card is totally demagnetized. So i go to the customer service to get it replaced and realize it's been 1 hour and 25 minutes since this started and I tell them what's happening and give her the manager's name (i have EVERYONE'S name). One girl says 'bet she's not even DOING it' and she calls the shift manager.
Less than 3 minutes later I have my money. I find my brother and we just leave. You can bet I'll be writing a letter to the casino. Maybe I'll get comped a meal or something.
then I went home and helped decorate the church (since as per usual my mom and two or three other people get stuck doing it). But I was in such a bad mood that I knew everyone would get on my nerves so once Dad and I bolted the huge manger together I went home

Date: 2006-12-22 03:46 am (UTC)That? That sucks.
And people in customer service positions who don't do their jobs properly are more likely to get bitched out by me than anyone else. Mainly because I could DO their jobs standing on my head. I work in the same kind of job. And if *I* can do it right, they damn sure can do it right or I'll show them a thing or two.
