Okay so i finished the two-parter and can I say WTF? I'll give it points on the grossness scale (which in an odd way will come up at the next writers' critiquing since [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog and I have a scene in our novel (from a few years back) where one character breaks the feet of another in a torture session and most of the writers deemed it too hard to read. Well I just saw that same scene in CM.

But of the many things that bothered me about this episode was the ending. First off, they make Reid WALK OUT of the cemetery. WTH? He died for god's sake. Literally died and was brought back and his friends know this but no one calls for EMS to transport him. Actually I suppose first off is how did Reid shoot him? I wasn't sure where the second gun came from but I'll assume Tobias had two but my how has more to do with teh canon fact that Reid can't shoot worth a damn. Did he practice since the last time? Desperation tends to make your aim worse not better. Okay so I can buy into that a little...but the very end when Reid goes back and steals the drugs?

ARGH. Okay I had to ask [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog wasn't there a god awful Starsky and Hutch eppy where one of them was injected a few times by the bad guys and became hooked? This is such an old and boring idea. One, while there are a few drugs that hook you immediately, it's more rare than common. But more importantly, Reid hasn't had time to come down and start 'hurting' how would he know he needs more? Has he, like Tobias, been using all along since childhood to survive psycho parents? There's never been a sign of that. Worse, Without a Trace did this last year and so have many others. Sigh.

And because i could use one...(now to find all my friends who have this thing up. I'd hate to forget someone)

I saw the walking out on his own as a testimony of "Reid you made it out on your own", kind of psychological stuff.

Now, I really liked this eppy. I thought it was pretty intense. There wasn't a second gun - it was the same one that "Raphael" had been using to play Russian Roulette throughout, that's why he said "There's only one bullet in that gun." I figured the aim was just sheer luck - or, if you will, going with the theme, "God's will."

I do agree there should have been a stretcher, though. They'd seen what he'd been through. That he was ABLE to stand and walk was probably adrenaline; still, "Charles" had him out there digging, so he was obviously at least that well.

Oh you're right, on second thought Raphael had a knife...

true though I didn't buy into the digging either. That's the problem with having seen real people after CPR....

Yeah, that one had a suspension of disbelief thing going, but it was pretty intense entertainment, anyway. I do try for crazy realism when I go for harming characters but I excuse them sometimes on TV because they have that time limit thing...

I did like the episode otherwise but i just really REALLY do not want them turning Reid into a drug addict because he got injected three times with diluadid

It depends on how it's done. I understand the writers' motivations, to explore the dark side of a "good" character - but, you're right, if it's done stupidly it can be horrid. On the other hand, if it's done WELL, it can be gripping. I'll have to wait and see. I haven't seen as much Criminal Minds as I would like, and this was something aimed at making me make sure to come back.

I really liked the episode. Very intense and very engaging unsub. I think the writers could take the ending two different ways. One is that he took the drugs to use or possibly use and eventually get hooked. The other is he took the drugs so they won't ask questions about it and find how he was drugged.

oh i liked the unsub. I just didn't like the ending. See, I assume Reid is more than smart enough to know they've been watching him all this time and know he was drugged

i think it's a matter of personal preference. On crime shows I do not want to know anything about the investigators personal lives. I'm there for the mystery and not their soap opera

... I saw it more as a physical impossibility (sorry, foot doctor) Oh I agree w/the impossible part, but it did make good T.V & he was able to steal some of the drugs outta the dead guys pocket that way - stuff for future eps I'm sure.

yes but that was stuff I didn't want (mostly because i've seen that subplot so many times so unless they do something unique)
