the first day of break
Mar. 11th, 2007 11:21 amYesterday I headed up to Columbus, which okay is no one's spring break destination but since it's the only place I can shop off I went (and if I want to shop you know how bored I am). Sadly I forgot my cooler (crossed the Japanese market off the list as a result) and my gift card for Coldwater Creek (sigh) but such is life.
Gah driving through central OH is so boring but I got up there and found a new Borders (which was easier to get to than the other one I was using and I couldn’t believe how much Henderson Rd has changed since I moved. Sheesh). Within five minutes I have 100$ worth of manga in hand (I think it’s
mjules who has an icon that says something like ‘manga my anti-drug: because who can afford drugs if they buy manga’ so damn true) and heck somehow I couldn’t remember where I left off on a couple of series. Gah.
I knew I should have stayed out of the cd section. They had all the Irish music out and that’s my kryptonite. I picked up another Gaelic Storm (which upon first listen the first two songs were love but the rest was eh). I also had a coupon buy one fancy coffee drink get one free. So what if I’m alone, I’m getting two thank you kindly. I was going to sit and write in the coffeehouse portion but it was packed to the gills, standing room only. I mention this to the coffee boy (what do you call these servers?
mjules?) and he says they’re studying for mid terms and I laugh saying I’m on spring break. The cute little thing starts flirting with me and is all excited because I’m teaching classes he thinks are cool (well finally someone who does).
Sadly I can’t stay and write so I get in the car with both drinks (and realize that the condos I nearly lived in way back when are now sharing a lot with Borders. That would be so dangerous) and head to the mall. I get there full of coffee so hyped up on joy juice, I’m racing (literally I think I could have crossed the mall in two jumps my nerves were bouncing so much) through the mall just waiting to spend.
Luckily I kept it to the one manga Borders didn’t have (figures it was the one I needed most), and Satsuma oil from The Body Shop. Now I need perfume like I need shot. I have so much I’m ebaying all the unopened bottles but I love oils and really orange seems to work with the body chemistry. I was so disappointed in the Living Dead Dolls collection though the Edgar Allen Poe / Annabel Lee duo were cool and there was just the creepiest people ever hanging out in the porny section of Spencer’s… Someone had their English Mastiff in the mall with saddlebags so he could carry stuff. Polaris Mall allows dogs (which reminds me of the commercial I saw from Iams while putting my shoes on before leaving. The guy comes home and is calling his dog. “Mr. Barky-bunches Schnauzer’ damn near died)
Then it was on to T J Maxx. I should not be allowed in that store. I did manage to resist the canvas black shoes with skulls and the fuchsia and green Indian-styled shirt but then I hit the food aisle. Oh dear. I now have lemon-stuffed olives, white peony tea, marzipan and they had a whole collection of sugar free alcohol mixers. Too bad most of them were margaritas (I don’t usually like them). I did get appletini mix. Then it was on to dinner at carraba’s. I really need to find where the more ethnic and interesting restaurants are in Columbus nowadays.
And that’s my first boring day of break.

And I believe those young men are called baristas. They are in Starbucks anyway, I couldn't tell you about anywhere else.
Yay for cute boys flirting!
