Mar. 23rd, 2007 12:05 pmbeen in those weird sleep cycles where i barely sleep for 2 hours then wake up and maybe get back to sleep...weird dreams too. Like the one where I was teaching class in a white mini skirt and a Marge Simpson wig...
I have to say I have a strong belief in Eastern medicine and thought last night, hmmm wonder what a) yoga b) acupressure could do for my blood sugar. So i looked it up. Yoga would help, as suspected, in just taking off stress which contributes to the sugar problems.
the truly interesting thing was that acupressure points are in the ball of the foot (well i should say the reflexology ones) at the base of the first metatarsal and into the region of the medial tarsals. In the hand the two points are at the base of the thenar eminence (base of the thumb) and at the base of the ring finger. 7 years ago, just about when I was diagnosed with the nerve damage to my hand is when the diabetes started. Where was I hurt? the thenar eminence. The books all say that these qi points would hurt in a diabetic so I palpated my foot and damned if the ONLY points that hurt were the ones for the pancreas. In my hands? I have painful cyst formations in both qi points for the pancreas. Hmmmmm.
I've been considering getting an electrical "acupuncture" tool before this and now I think i really will do it.
Hey another bright spot for the day? the bookstore was selling galileo thermometers for half price. Got one for me and one for dad.

Date: 2007-03-24 12:06 pm (UTC)Oh god, and I -love- having my feet rubbed. I'm such a rub whore... I swear if Beelzebub offered to rub my feet, I'd say yes. Maybe you could make foot pleasure part of some extra credit assignment in lab? Yeah, work reflexology in there! Hell, it's worth a shot. "Rub my feet and, if I like it, you'll get +10 points on your final grade."
And too funny picturing you in that towering blue wig *snort*
