so i said no. that's not the final word. No one took the position. I could still end up there...

oh and dear students when you're talking across THREE lab rows interuppting my apex predator speech and half the class is looking at you do NOT give me big puppy eyes that say 'what did we do wrong?' The fact that you KNEW i was talking to you even though I said no names when i said to SHUT UP proves your guilt.

i see the endocrinologist tomorrow.I expect to be on insulin. We'll see what happens

Wait, they can't *make* you take the position, can they?

What? Your students are nuts. Apex predators are cool. I remember being so pleased when I found out cats were apex predators, though it made me realize even more so what a pathetic hunter my cat is when he whines at a bug instead of killing it. *sigh* I love my kitty, but someday I *will* have a cat who's a fierce killer. ;)

i see the endocrinologist tomorrow.I expect to be on insulin.

Crap! So your "fuck you, Byetta" experiment didn't work out? :(

Good luck today. I wanna know what's wrong with you.

Sounds like you need a girl kitty. Boy kitties are notoriously bad at waiting for YOU to kill the prey...and then wanting the credit for it.

Your students are worse than preschoolers...

I'll be crossing my fingers for you regarding the insulin. Magical intervention, maybe...?

high school trains them to be preschoolers. Teachers can't do much to discipline them. I fear for colleges and work forces at this point

i need to be on the insulin right now. It may not be permenant but for now..i need it

So semi closure on the odd job offering is better than nothing at this point. I mean for your psyche. I'm glad for it.

And those students are on crack, I swear. I find myself wondering if I was ever that rude or stupid. And no, I don't think I was. I loved my classes.

If you need the insulin and it will help balance everything out, that's a plus. The badness is having to poke yourself with a needle. It doesn't bother me to watch it cause I saw my dad do it my whole life, but I'm not sure I could poke myself with a needle.

make is a strong term. Coerce would be more like it.

female kitties, they're the hunters. I've had two boys and they are utterly pathetic. Including hte one who lives outside right now. His idea of being an apex predator is to whine at me and raid the dumpster. He HIDES behind me if a bird comes near. I'm talking house wren here not a hawk.

didn't work and in fact going back to the three pills i was on before did NOT return me to the state of control i had before the byetta. Something is seriously wrong. I find out what in an hour

no NO ONE was this bad when I was in college. I'm older than you but probably your crew was slightly worse than mine but i'm sure not to this level. I had a prof who's been at my college 40+ years, a man who never has a bad word for anyone and he was in the office whining these were the most horrible students he's ever had

i've been poking myself with the byetta. I've given myself arthritis shots for years when I was practicing...actually pain doesn't bug me much so i'll be fine. I just worry about the low sugars because I live alone. I'm sure you know what I mean

no, that's only true of type I diabetics. They make no insulin. Type II's like me make it. If I lost the weight I probably would require no meds at all

Ah. ...Umm.... you could start eating at the local restaurants. That's bound to lead to weight loss...

Well, if they do coerce you it'll mean that they're really desperate...and you should take advantage of that by arguing that they should give you some serious perks, like better pay and possibly tenure. They can't expect to heap all that extra responsibility on your practically nothing, especially when nobody wants the position anyway.

I actually might be acquiring a female kitty when I move, but she's a ragdoll so she won't be much of a hunter either. I'll keep that in mind though for when I buy my own place and can have as many kitties as I want (though I won't be a cat hoarder).

I'm sorry your health is doing so badly. I hope they can figure out what's wrong. *hugs*

I hope they offer tenure next time they ask you to chair. Maybe this will show them you like to be bought dinner first, ya know?

And, I wish the best on the doc visit. Hey, whatever gets you well and keeps you there is alright in my book.

you'd think that but no, even the diet designed to make you drop massive weight to undergo heart surgery made me loose...one pound (out of the 20 expected)

thanks. sadly the chair's payment etc is fixed across the school and non-negoiable. Sigh.

ragdolls are so pretty but no i cna't imagine she'd be a hunter. I'd like to move to where i could have pets period

i'm doubting it. I'm still waiting to get axed to be truthful

that really bites hard. then i hope you manage to not get stuck with it. you don't need any more bullshit to deal with.

heh, nah they're kind of on the extreme end of "i'm a lover, not a fighter".

yes, you need to move to a place with fewer idiots, better doctors, and good manga and into a pet-friendly apt. have you ever thought about living in VT, by any chance? i don't know if any VT schools are hiring but i know a lot about VT since i used to live there.

Date: 2007-04-13 01:58 am (UTC)

not that it mattered much

I HAVE thought about VT to be honest. I wouldn't mind any of New England though cost becomes a factor. No jobs ever turn up there mind you, except for boston which I dont like my chances of living well. I know what it costs

Date: 2007-04-13 02:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ex-chaos-by-699.livejournal.com
well, I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything that might open up. It's certainly cheaper than Boston at least, and one thing that occurred to me is that you could live in a rural area but still not be *too* far a drive from civilization because it's such a small state. And I was thinking while UVM students aren't exactly rocket scientists, they do have to take SATs and write essays to get in so they'd be a cut above the students you have now.

Are there any fields other than teaching you'd consider?

You're expecting to get axed? Why?

Date: 2007-04-13 03:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
because I think we've over expanded. And the two new hires teach here and at our sister school in classes I can't teach.

and this school is a Comm. College and a University combo...but they may SPLIT them which could kill the university (for whom I work)

Date: 2007-04-13 03:10 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
they'd be WORLDS above them since my students don't have to do either.

mostly I want to teach now
