I started reading it while students were suffering through an Anatomy test but had to stop because it was too hard not to squeal and talk to the book in delight. I bet my professors have been in the chemicals this semester. *snort* I might've asked you or ELD this before, but is "Into the West" the first episode? I've found a horrendous download on youtube and their organizing is agonizing. I didn't think the guys all knew each other before the series.

they knew each other three years before the series begins and I have NO idea what comes first. I do't have the saiyuki anime (because it's ugly and You Tube does blow). I have reload.

I DO know they bear little resemblance to the organization in the manga

No wonder I'm screwed up. This totally turns me off the anime (though I know youtube does nothing justice)but I might know someone I can borrow the manga from. Too bad they're in a different state.

the anime is...done in three steps. A LONG run (50 episodes I think) of Saiyuki which covers parts of the book, the gaidens set centuries ago and shit it made up. The art sucked at first then got better.

Reload anime is part the tail end of the saiyuki books, MUCH better art, suck ass voice actors

Gunlock anime seems to be the Reload books, nice art, see above for the VA's

The VA's aren't too bad in the first series though I'm still trying to figure out just who Gojyo's VA is trying to imitate (I KNOW that voice, I know that speech cadence!). Goku actually sounds like a kid rather than an adult trying to sound like a kid. Hakkai doesn't sound nearly as gay. *laugh* At least, after the VA's settled into the characters, that is.

the best part is, i've downloaded some saiyuki sound tracks and 'dramas' from online and even not understanding Japanese and not having a visual to go with i can clearly identify all 4 characters because the Japanese VA's UNDERSTAND the characters and bring it across.
