That's the only way Florida cools off. It hasn't rained in a few days. It's SO hot I can't think. I can't type because my fingers either slip off the keys or stick to them because they're so gummy with sweat [livejournal.com profile] evil_little_dog  is gonna be so glad to hear that when she gets home.

It's SO hot that when I hung the clothes on the line to dry the arylic parts of the bras and undies MELTED to the clothes line and had to be pried off. Damn, I hate this state. I had to give up typing the Back to School story until tonight because it was an uncomphrensible mess with my fingers skidding all over the keys.

On the upside. I just found out I took first runner up in the Warm Champagne Challenge which is really cool. They give out neat stuff to the winners (not sure how this is funded but it's different). Not sure if the runner's up get anything more than a plaque but I'm not complaining. GIven the sheer amount of talent I was up against I'm shocked to take first runner up for Touch of Grey.

Oh and I just realized it's over 1500 miles to get to WI.

Real Floridians have AC, and don't venture outside much.

Congrats on the runner up at warm champagne.

That sucks about the heat. I don't think I would survive in that type of heat.

I hate heat. Passionately. As far as I'm concerned it should never be above 75 degrees (one of the reasons a lot of Canadian friends have courted me to move over the border).

And thanks. I'm pretty impressed especially since I whipped that story out in like two weeks for that deadline.

yeah I know what you mean about the heat... I have a hard enough time when we get too hot.

And that's pretty impressive.

Yeah I was impressed I could churn out nearly 90 pages that fast.

As for the heat, there's reasons I applied to Alaska for a job.

So you can handle the cold but not the heat? I am okay in nice moderate temperatures, not too cold and not too hot. I can handle the cold more than the heat though.

And that's quite a bit of writing in such a short time.

I'm much better with cold.

When it comes to writing, I'm usually the go-to girl. I can churn stuff out. It's not always good but it'll be there.

Write now I am completely stopped up when it comes to writing. I have nothing so I am taking a break from it and hoping to be able to write again tomorrow. Until then I am playing around with my lj.

I'm actually caught up and trying to work on NON ficathon stories tonight for a change.

Yeah I am just hoping I can get my muse back, and hopefully soon.

Mine somethings take a holiday. My original fic muse was gone for the better part of a year. It's another reason I want the ficathon stuff out of my hair. The less distractions the better.

Yeah I have to agree with you.. I let the ficathon thing get out of hand. So now I get great ideas but little time to do more than just write them out.

I think MOST of us did that. I hear it time and again in LJ's, people bitching about it. They got swept up and now it's a chore to do. Even ones I was excited about originally, all I can think of is, ugh, just let me get it done.

Some of them aren't so much a chore but it's time consuming. And I really want to write my own ideas now. I got into it to try to broaden my abilities. It didn't help that for a large # of them I kept getting the same person over and over.

yeah getting the same person again and again seemed to happen to me a lot. I know for the Wes one this is the third time Voluese has gotten me in a challenge. I've gotten my room mate like three times too.

But at least for me some where a chore. This wes one was but that's probably more because of the show I had to rewrite. Oddly the Lindsey one is feeling that way too.

I kept getting voluese. And it's kinda bad because she never let me know what she thought of my fics. So I am not too keen for writing for her because of that.

I don't think I will be running anymore ficathons though.

Date: 2004-07-16 11:18 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
Yeah that's tough. I've told her what I thought of what she wrote for me and she never responded to that either so maybe it's just not her thing (but that lack of feedback all around has really soured me on the ficathons)

Well you've run a fair number of them now. I cna see why you'd like a break.

Yah. Plus she's almost always late on the fics too.

Anyhow, I might eventually run another one but that will probably be a few months from now.

At this point I think we ALL are looking for a break from them. Too many too fast.

yeah I know what you mean. It was like one person had a great idea and then it mushroomed out of control.

Anyhow I am off to work.
