my last hours of being 39...

I'm not even sure I'm all that depressed any more. It's not really my age that makes me depressed so much as not being where I thought I was and not being really happy over where I am. But what can you do right?

My brother and SIL had a little party for me today. Brother cooked salmon and tuna steaks and gave me 40 one dollar bills for the slots. I told him I'd use them to stuff into the jocks at the Thunder Down Under show. We played with the kittens.

Me and the Brother evil_little_dog got me that shirt for my birthday.

And coming home i opened the front screen door from hell which has this monstrous spring on it and it likes to snap back (which dad says it doesn't) This time it did, scythed right across the top of my foot. Blood everywhere. Just what a diabetic needs a dirty wound from a screen door the day before she goes to Vegas and all that damn walking!

Speaking of which, if you don't hear from me I leave tomorrow for Vegas. I'll be back Friday morning. So thanks in advance for the birthday wishes.

yeah, this one i really am having trouble with. Probably because I was supposed to have my practice, my loans paid off etc and etc and all i have is a grinding debt i'll never pay off and a permanently painful hand and a sick body. it's like WTF happened

Da... I was the 30est for almost a year and a half. Now I'm 7 months into being the least 40 of all my friends. And I just rode my bike 48 miles today. I don't believe in aging, and 40 is obviously just a number... One that is well suited to make fun of anyway. I'm sporty forty. ^_^ Have fun. Remember, you're resetting that second digit to 0 again after all.

*hugs* 40 isn't so bad, and it does get easier as you go. I'll turn 43 July 3rd, and I'm just excited about getting taken out to dinner and getting to eat guilt free cake (ALL b-day cake is guilt free, right?).

Dammit, I didn't go online Saturday night to get a Happy Birthday posted for you in time for you to see it on your actual birthday. I knew your birthday was the next day, too, so I have no excuse.

I hear you about not being where you'd hoped to be by midlife, but screw it. I'm glad your life journey brought you down to Fla. for those couple of years, despite your 30's being a bit of a low point. I wouldn't have gotten the chance to know you if you hadn't, and I would have missed out on the companionship of a very smart, funny, adventurous, creative and eminently worth-knowing person. I am never going to be a size 4, have a great career, or find a guy I can deal with. That's my life. We can't all be freakin' Cinderella. Who the Hell wants to wear glass slippers anyway? The kittens are adorable. Hope your foot doesn't completely ruin your Vegas trip. It seems most of us are into hurting ourselves big time this past year. Bad trend. We must stop now.
