Looking for Mr. Cheap Bed
Sep. 3rd, 2007 12:02 amwell not really but damn the ONE place that delivers around here only carries top of the line stuff. As much as I want temperpedic, i can NOT afford a nearly 3,000$ mattress. The one I want is still really out of my price range but they did have a nice bed that would fit in my room (and gorgeous wood stuff that didn't)
went to the farmer's market. Um...wow bluegrass gospel live was playing. Shudders but now I have blackberry butter and pumpkin goat milk fudge
Trundled even further north to Columbus, hung out in Dublin cemetery. I'll show you pictures later. The road goes OVER the graves. It's disconcerting. Went to Borders for my Manga run because what's a girl without manga (richer, that's what she is. Betting
m3sektet is rueing the day she got led into this, and OH can I see why you picked up Let Dai, lovely cover)
So I go to Macys which had the bed I wanted and teh price I wanted but they do NOT deliver here. JCPenny's on the other hand has NO beds in the store, just online. Um how the hell would I know I wanted that bed without trying it out.
Trundled to dinner at Chilis since i was dying for fajitas. Now I remember why i don't eat them (Should have went to Rude Dog's just for the name and had pub food) in public. I had the tropical sunrise (too expensive and too much pineapple)
went over to Barnes and Nobles to let the alcohol pass before driving the 100 miles back home. I was shocked to see them have shonen-nai manga. B&N has been very slow to pick up manga with homosexual themes (unlike waldens/borders which has tons) at least in these parts. Nearly got Boy Princess then came to my senses...since i've read how much fanfic with the same plot, dress him up as a girl and try to pass him off...(not that I didn't stock up on the yaoi at Borders anyhow) I did pick up a sampler cd. I'll let you know what I think later.

ETA - my aunt just sent this 'poem' not sure where she got it from
We're here in the buckeye state....
It ain't really that great.....
They grow lots of corn...
And look mighty forlorn...
Because we were born
Next to the corn!
Six dollars a dozen...
Go remarry your cousin!
We're here in the buckeye state
It ain't really great....
Then why are we here.?
Let's all have a beer!!!!!

manga is my anti-drug. ;)
Date: 2007-09-03 04:27 am (UTC)Hehehe, I couldn't resist the siren call of a manga sale either. And you can't take all the credit for leading me into manga. I've liked comics/graphic novels for years and had been eyeing the manga section for a long time, just never knew which stuff to try. So really, you only led me to the good drugs. ;)
Re: manga is my anti-drug. ;)
Date: 2007-09-03 04:31 am (UTC)very pretty covers. I picked up something called Gorgeous carat and pt 2 of Il Gatto

Date: 2007-09-03 04:34 am (UTC)Very fond of D.Grey-man though, despite the fact that I can't describe it more accurately than "It's... FMA!"
Huh, my roommate is from Dublin, OH. I should ask her about the cemetery. (Now if that's not an awkward conversation starter, I don't know what is)
Re: manga is my anti-drug. ;)
Date: 2007-09-03 04:40 am (UTC)You'll hafta let me know how Gorgeous Carat is.
The sucky thing about Il Gatto is that it doesn't look like Vol. 3 is available yet in English, and now I'm invested enough to want to see how it all turns out. And I'm hoping for hot sex at some point. ;)

Date: 2007-09-03 04:41 am (UTC)It was a sadly disappointing cemetery for its age.
Re: manga is my anti-drug. ;)
Date: 2007-09-03 04:46 am (UTC)this is like a sequel to the Gorgeous Carat series but it was like so FAT and hte same price as skinnier DMP June imprints that I had to buy it.
Yeah and hope they DO translate it. I'm hoping it's better now. Back in the 80's and 90's you'd get invested in something and it would NEVER finish.

Date: 2007-09-03 05:08 am (UTC)I'm also hunting down the last two volumes of Paradise Kiss, which is my guilty pleasure. It's romance, but romance with completely and utterly fucked up characters and doesn't end 100% happily, so I think I won't lose any street cred liking it. ;)
Between those two, DGM, and the actual anime habit, I'm one very poor student.

Date: 2007-09-03 05:13 am (UTC)Hmmm I was looking at Paradise Kiss but passed since it was romance. Still fucked up characters....
oh this huge manga habit is killing me especially with those HUGE series like FMA, DGM, Bleach, Black Cat....

Date: 2007-09-03 05:24 am (UTC)Ooo, will have to look for the Spike story. You know I love that blondie.
And yes, very fucked up characters. Transgendered drag queen (I think that's the right term for it), emotionally stunted and manipulative male lead, emotionally immature and parentally hounded female lead, as well as the childhood friend turned rapist turned lover and his girl. Unfortunately, most of the bookstores I know seem to have stopped carrying it for some reason. *frown*
Also, just looking back on your post, I remember more than a year ago (actually, more like 3 years ago) being shocked that B&N was selling shrinkwrapped volumes of FAKE and Banana Fish. Did they just stall at that point?

Date: 2007-09-03 01:59 pm (UTC)I never knew Borders was so kinky. I guess I just zoomed in and out of there as fast as I can, otherwise, you'd never get me out of there. I can never spend less then $50 dollars as it is in there.

Date: 2007-09-03 02:22 pm (UTC)Paradise Kiss sounds interesting. Is there more of it to pick up? Sometimes stuff happens (Like I'm fairly sure Descedants of Darkness was not meant to end where it did and have to wonder if the magazine it was in folded or dropped it) That used to drive me insane in the 80's and 90's. You'd get into an anime but only half of it was ever translated into English. You used to be able to buy bootlegs at cons and send it to this company in Canada for a fan-translation
