There is something depressing about losing both Pavrotti and L'Engle in the space of two days. I was a bigger fan of the former than the latter but I liked them both

Been listless all night and the anime I got from Netflix didn't help. I wish I knew why I thought Loveless would be less creepy animated but it was even more disturbing.

couldn't even write for a while but I have that kicked. Thank you Samuel Adams

And i bet more than half my Flist will read THIS and think 'Xander and his girlfriends..."

Mom got the sheets (blue) and the luggage (red). She said the luggage is only okay but since this was a super sale, it pretty much equates to 10$ a bag so really if it dies an early death I'm not losing much.

a week in writing - I'm ahead of the curve for my monthly goal by 12%, go me.

Oh, yes, Apata! *laughs* Let's hope she doesn't come to life and start sucking souls....

'Cause she looks like a cute Incan Mummy Girl.

My uncle was a huge opera fan so I know he's going to be upset about that. But Pavo's death seemed to overshadow L'Engle's.

The Incan Mummy Girl just reeks of Resident Evil or some horror movie. I'm surprised that they did put her on display. Are they even finished studying her? I figured they'd share their findings first before such a drastic step.

yes, i've noticed that.

and I was surprised about the Incan Mummy Girl myself. I wondered the same thing you did

Yeah: pavarotti and l'engle in the same week. It's a down...

Cheapest and best way to buy sheets: let mom do it. :-) ::hugs::

yes that is definitely the cheapest way to get sheets (though I'll pay her back, but not the luggage, that's a gift) Macy's is 100 miles from here so I can race out to sales. Sigh.

I'm just shocked at how well preserved she is. And given that she's that well-preserved, I'm kind of tempted to agree with those who say she should be buried, or at least not put on display. I know it's a really superficial thing, but being able to see her face makes her so much more real than a dissicated mummy.

Guess that makes me kind of shallow, huh?

Yeah she is amazingly well preservered. I'm sure the protestors are part of a religious/cultural thing (probably descendents of the people who killed her and put her and the other children up there) Seeing the face bothers me less, mostly because well I've cut up a lot of dead people at this point. It barely registers other than 'wow, she's perfect'

the sublime and the ridiculous

I know what you mean about Pavarotti, he was much too young. Opera singers are supposed to live into their 90's. I thought it was kind of wonderful that Mt. Aetna put on a lovely yet harmless display for the occasion, sort of a farewell salute to the great tenor. I wish I could find my damned La Boheme CD! Ever since I heard he died I have had one of those arias in my head and it's going to drive me crazy until I hear it. Maybe I still have that old videotape around somewhere...

If you want a little something to brighten your night, go to YouTube, put in Monty Python and Star Trek as your search terms, and play one of the first few hits that come up (I can't give a link because their %$*& program won't let me.) Someone had waaaaay too much time on their hands, but it's pretty darned funny. Cheered me right up.

Have a great weekend-

fullmetalfemmme

p.s. I had a couple of questions about our FF.net correspondence. I will PM you here in the next day or so if that is ok.

Once again (and believe me this is not the first time this has happened in the ten months since I started watching Anime and reading fanfiction), I have proved myself the fool and techno-tard that I am. I was thinking I was reading a comment from Nebroadwe when I was reading yours, and was responding as if I were addressing her. So I am sure very little I said would have made much sense to you, and for that you have my profound apologies.

My only hope is that as someone who shares more than half of the interests on your list, particularly Native American Culture (#1 on my list), Celtic Culture, Saiyuki, and FMA, as well as my own litany of disabling health problems which I try hard not to whine about (cost me my my beloved library job of 17 years) that you'll cut me a bit of slack and not write me off as a complete moron for my error! My knowledge of 'puters and the internet was abruptly truncated when I became ill and lost my job ten years ago. Immersing myself recently in the world of anime and ff has been an object lesson in how much has changed since then, and I am constantly trying to catch up and catch on to all the technology that is new to me. One of the many things that defeats me is that no two sites seem to operate the same way, hence my mistake here. LJ has been particularly confusing to me as boards/ff sites go, and you can be sure I will be more careful from here on out!

So a thousand apologies for being so diplomatic about what must have been a little puzzling to say the least. <> Your kindness is appreciated!

Well... Ok I did not think "Xander and his girlfriends...". This is perhaps because I do not watch TV... and only vaguely have some kind of clue who Xander is because of [livejournal.com profile] gateways_2_dawn Willow. Hahaha. Me = Clueless

I agree that it's wild how well preserved this girl is. But I'm a little baffled at why they're calling her a mummy. She's a frozen girl. Glad that they haven't decided it might be cool to try to revive her using cryogenics or something. Her face is so beautiful looking, but I don't know why they didn't use better equipment to take the photos. I'm not sure about my sense about the display. It's kind of cool, but yes, kind of in poor taste too. I'm of the opinion that she's not using that body now. So she probably doesn't care what we do with it.

she's mummified in the sense that she's been totally dessicated by the cold wind (the original way of preparing jerky, bet we all wanted to know that).

I have no real problems with displaying her to be honest but yes why they had such crap cameras is a mystery
