I've been doing renn fests for years. I've been making my own dresses for 20 of those years. I'm still debating going tomorrow (or blowing off Mom who has decided three day weekend means come home to PA and going next week).

my problem, it's in the triple digits. It's supposed to be almost 100 tomorrow. That's too hot for me. Even if I do go i won't be in garb. I'll feel naked. Granted having no undies on under that gown might be cooler but it IS long sleeved. (don't ask about the undies, just assume it has to do with the filthy portajohns).

I wait until October so I DONT have to deal with this. I hate this. If i wanted this kind of weather i'd move to Phoenix but since I don't... (hell this would suck worse than Phoenix. at least it's not usually humid there (and the half dozen Phoenixians on the Flist are glaring at me)

One of the neighbors was complaining to me yesterday about the heat.

I'm glad we got to the show early this a.m. It was nasty by 12, when we left.

Are you taking about the Ohio Ren Fest? I'm hoping to go the weekend of the 13th -- if the weather breaks like it's supposed to.

At the moment (and this could change in the next half hour, heh) it's supposed to be around 70 the weekend of the 13th-14th according to weather.com

This last week the humidity has been UP TO 40%. This is unnatural.

The hubby and I went last weekend. We went in street clothes since none of my garb fits me right now. For the first time ever we sat close to the front at the mud show. We managed to not get muddy though.

From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
yeah the mud show does have that side effect

We sat in the fourth row and only got one little blob of mud on us. However, two seats to our right, they were completely covered in mud.

i never go for the obvious reasons. I don't want that in a dress that cost me and arm and leg to make

I don't know what to tell you other than uh.. "Welcome to Ohio." It's Indian Summer. It could last a few days or a few weeks. Personally I'd much rather it stay nice and hot rather than duck down and start snowing in October which also happens reasonably often. I remember many occasions of having to wear long johns under halloween costumes and coats over becuase it was so cold. That multiple personality weather disorder is pretty normal though.

Are you talking about the Ren Fest in Waynesville down by Ceasar Creek? That's totally close to where I live. I didn't get to go there last year. Most of my really good and loving local friends went and didn't ask me if I was interested in going. I could probably have scraped the money together as my Roommate at the time had not started stiffing me on the rent until December. This year I don't know if I'll be able to afford it either... having been sorely screwed, as you know, by another roommate. Oh well. I list my house on the market Monday. Maybe it will sell on Tuesday and that will solve a multitude of problems. I shouldn't have to sell my house to resolve my money problems... but even if I didn't I would sell it because I hate it and it's spiders. hehe...

So anyway... I guess the fest is open until Oct 21. For soem reason I guess I thought it went into the first week of November.

yep that's the one I mean. I go every year. I knew you were out there somewhere. I guess i am coming today...and I might wear the garb when i thought about the logistics of shorts vs the portajohn... (i don't understand how a place like that which is permanent doesn't have at least one real bathroom)

good luck selling the house.

and honestly, it never should be above 70. See, i did belong in WI. It woudl be snowing now and I'd be happy. Having lived in OH for a total of nine years now, you'd think I'd be used to this. PA isn't all that different either but bah, i don't remember it ever being this hot in October.

I know - we're past ready for that first real cool front... You guys, especially way up there, should be in the 60s as highs by now.

Global warming sucks ass.

You're complaining about triple digits while I'm wondering about putting on a jacket! It's currently 53 right now and getting cooler. I need to dig through boxes to get the aquarium heater so that my dear fishie won't freeze. That fate unfortunately happened to my first fishie. Though of course, I don't live in Phoenix but Prescott is only about 90 miles away. *wonders if she should taunt with the cool weather or not*

really? I had fish outdoors in an old swimming pool in WI with ave temp 20 below and they lived (then again the ice does insulate)

i'm still heat frazzled

Yeah, I never really understood why he died. The aquarium was by the window so he could get some sunlight so that might've been the problem. I have my current fishie away from the window so maybe that'll help him. Unfortunately I don't have the typical windows (the oh so wonderful ones that slide up and down and are easy to clean). All the windows in the house are the...well...ghetto sliding door windows I call them. I don't understand the logic but it's cheaper to put in big windows than regular ones.

I sure hope the heat doesn't make you sick. Still, at least you can have those oh so pretty flowers in your yard. Arizona soil isn't too nice to things that aren't spiny.

good luck with the fish. what is he?

Heat always makes me sick. I really do hate heat. But yes we get pretty flowers and things without deadly spines

My first fish was just a regular betta who was affectionately named Char from Gundam 0083. I had him a year before he died. I had another betta between that but he got really sick and died a month after I got him. Last time I got to Petsmart for a fish. My mom decided to get me a b-day present and took me to Petco to pick out a fish. They had crowntail bettas (http://www.bettysplendens.com/articles/page.imp?articleid=754) for 7(?) bucks so I grabbed one. I decided to name him Mugen from Samurai Champloo for some reason. He's quite the interesting fish. He'll perk up whenever I enter my room or when he hears something interesting on TV. He doesn't exactly puff up like on the picture but he'll swim up to greet you and do little circles in the water to show you how pretty he is. I need to change his water this week so I'll try and grab some pictures of him. He's alot prettier than the pictures on the website. His coloration is red, blue, and a shiny turquoise.

he sounds pretty, Mugan that is. I don't think betas in general live more than a year or two.

It was 81 degrees in Phoenix today. It's actually quite cold now (for us, anyway - the low is expected to be 54 tonight)...
