a question for the techies

what would make a program (Nero) which was working fine three days ago) suddenly stop working and be unable to burn and ask for the install manager to finish installing. I don't believe i have the original set up files any more. Gah! Suggestions? Thanks

Oh, dear, gawd, I had the same problem with my Nero. WhatI did was scream at the comp, kick it, threaten it with a screwdriver, uninstalled the program, re-installed it (which didn't do jack) and basically fumed for ten mintes after.

So although I'm good with comps, Nero's screwed up. Can't help you out too much (sorry...)

first off: did you do anything to your computer in the last three days? install anything new, make any major configuration changes?

otherwise i'd find another copy and uninstall and reinstall. oh and i'd check for viruses and spyware first. you know, the usual.

nope didn't do anything different. Norton is doing its usual overacting to things but it's not given me a major alert and I can't do the spyware thing right. Ad-aware has also stopped working in the last few months. It's unable to update

could your firewall be blocking it?

i thought about that but it was the same firewall as always....

but something may have changed, for some unknown inexplicable reason. check the settings on your firewall just in case - if ad-aware is unable to update, it sounds like something is stopping it accessing the internet. Maybe. LOL.
