Been getting very weak, exhausted, dizzy and nauseated in the early afternoon for the past few weeks. Thouhgt it might be attributed to stress/lack of sleep (which is surely part of it). Decided to test my blood sugar during an episode today since this is classic for low blood sugar. Instead, my blood sugar was 250. Certainly stress can account for this in spite of the diet and pills (since that's over 100 points higher than my norm). I know that certain foods make me loopy too.

That said, going to have to ask all my friends that like to send me gourmet foods as gifts (since we all know I'm into gourmet cooking) to alter what they send as gifts. As much as I've enjoyed them in the past, I'm going to have to ask your not send me the following:
- Desserts (brownies, cake mixes, cookies, candies) unless they're made with Splenda (I'm allergic to Nutrasweet)
- Pasta
- rice
- potato/corn chips and their like

I'd feel guilty about not eating them and wasting your money so other things might be found that are better for me (plenty of gourmet packaged foods out there that aren't covered by that)

Sigh. Now to figure out WHY I've had a temperature of 99-100 for nearly three months now. I go back to the doctor for that in on Monday

Desserts and potato chips I get, they're the stuff of evil. But why not rice and pasta?

Get well soon!

Rice and pasta are as bad as if not worse than potato chips. Brown rice and wheat pasta are a little better. Both are carb-rich and the highly refined rice, pasta (and flour in bread and desserts) are too easily absorbed by the blood stream and jump the blood sugar up far faster than the body can respond in a normal person. It's worse in a diabetic like myself.

Yikes. Only vegetables for you, missy.

And meat. being I'm not a vegetarian and a lot of fruits and vegatable are also forbidden fruit, pun intended. Being diabetic sucks. We can already tell you the Atkins plan is NOT the best diet in the world.

I'm a vegetarian myself, and there are lots of substitutes for meat in the market that actually taste good, so you're not limited to meat and veggies. What about thin milk?

The Atkins diet is a terrible, terrible thing. The best diet, I think, is the one which is personaly adjusted for you, and it's more of a way of life than a diet. That's what worked for me, anyway, I've lost 25 kilos in three years. feels great.

Allergic to milk. I like meat. It cuts your rate of stomach cancer about 30% and meat proteins are required to heal wounds very important in diabetics. You can't substitute for that (my thesis was in wound healing and I was a wound care doctor for 10 years). Nothing against the vegetarian diet just so long as you're taking your multivitamins because otherwise, you'll be lacking things you need and can't get.

And hey 25 kilos is great. I'm back to the doctor's today to figure out why, if I have a functioning thyroid, I can't lose weight no matter what the doctors try.
But you're right, a personally adjusted diet is the best. I prefer a well balance omnivorous one since that's what the human body has adapted too not to much on meat, not too much on veggies but a blend of them.

Yes, I'm taking my vitamins like a good girl. I just can't touch meat, it grosses me out. The not losing weight thing sounds so frustrating, good luck at the doctor today!

ground meat does that to me. I don't deal well with it. Grew up on a farm surrounded by hunters so I'm pretty used to the whole carnivore thing.

So long as you have those vitamins you'll be fine, health wise. Speaking of which I dont' think I took my iron so
