well I had the MRI today. Naturally no one came to proctor my final exam like I asked so I could get there on time. And seriously students, WHINING that something wasn't in your notes, not going to impress me. No it wasn't in the stuff you downloaded. It was in the stuff I SAID and you were meant to write down. You didn't? Awwww, pity.

So I get there ten minutes late. So either they gave away my position or were running WAY behind. Either way I get in an hour later. We go thru is anything going to pull out of your body and kill us all if we magnetize you paperwork then they put me into the machine.

Let me say this up front, I've had MRI's before. I'm not claustrophobic in the least. Even though an MRI machine gives you a preview of life in a coffin, this does not bother me. They strap me down (this was new to me) and put some kind of sensor on my belly and surprising to me was that they had paper work not just for the kidney and adrenal gland BUT pancreas and liver too (not that I'm complaining by all means be through).

What got me was I had to put both arms above my head and they shoved me into the tube that way. Um...it's so tight the skin of my arms is dragging on the top and they're otherwise pinned by the bed on the bottom. It's NO fun being told to take a deep breath then EXPELL it all and hold it that way for what seemed like forever (about 20 second or more).

Well I did something I have NEVER done on any testing I've ever had, no matter how painful. I nearly lost it. I have arthritic spurs in my neck and with my arms up like that the pain was incredible. They started yelling at me to hold my breath better. I started yelling back I can't because of the PAIN. How much longer? A while. Oh joy. Because of all the misfiring nerves, my arm is starting to twitch and convulse and I can not stop it

Finally when they ask me to take a deep breath I said NO. Pause. Why not? Because I'm nearly hyperventilating from the pain just take me out let me arm rest THEN put me back in to finish. They drag me out and let me put my arms down. Next thing I know they have it and have a penrose drain around it. I'm like 'i have deep veins, good luck.' Hmmm as the pain clears and I can think 'um what are you injecting into me?'

Magnavist...no one told me that was going to be happening but is hardly that unexpected. But to be honest I think it was a sedative because I instantly calmed down and they jammed me back in and my arm didn't hurt as much. However 6 hours later I can still barely feel my right arm and the shoulder feels separated.

However, i did not get to keep the next appt because unlike with the CT scan they refused to read it immediately. It takes 3 days. So I'll go back next week but I do have an appt with the endocrinologist tomorrow. And now my back hurts right over the kidney. WTF?

Since i missed lunch (points to the no one relieved me during the exam) I went for early dinner at the mediocre chinese buffet (which has gotten worse) and I can't help overhear the three ladies next to me talking about their church's potluck dinner. the invitations read 'bring a covered dish' and someone actually showed up with an EMPTY covered dish. Ummmm. save me from this place.
