Yeah, I got into it with the doc today. Off the bat I tell him about the adrenal tumor and his attitude was clearly 'so what?' He says well we see those in 1-5% of all abdominal CT's and they're just there. I said I KNOW that. (i did, i looked it up). But he says it in a tone that suggests that it's 90% 'they ain't no big deal' instead of 90% likely to be putting out steriods. I said i DO have Cushing symptoms, remember? You DID send me for a test in May to see if I had that. He looks back at the chart and it's NOT an adrenal adenoma but rather some bizarre benign tumor (they think) mostly made up of fat and a nest of blood vessels. I start getting frustrated because I see this going nowhere.

So I change tactics back to the diabetes and tell him the new pill isn't doing much and that when I had to go off the Glucophage last week because of the CT contrast dye my sugar got worse. He had talked about upping the dose last time and I said might we try that THEN I asked again WHY after taking Byetta did I spin out of control and I got another non-answer.

Basically he wanted me to come in to stay at the hospital for a few days the next time my sugar got over 300 so they could experiment with me. I said you know i'm having trouble with my insulin. I can't inject it any mor ebecause ALL fat in my thighs is now covered with varicose veins, hell even my arms, explain that doc and the striae (stretch marks) in my belly are so bad I can't get the needle into them. He says, let me see your belly...

Funny after seeing that I have to do an unpleasant test three separate collect your pee for a day tests to see if I AM spilling adrenal hormones. Either he's humoring me or seeing those purplish striae decided maybe it IS a cortisol-producing tumor

But the thing that nearly lead to him with his head up his own butt? I KNOW he doesn't believe me when I say I eat well. He caught himself in the middle of a very nasty remark about my weight and did a quick reverse. I don't have much choice in endocrinologists here. He's not a bad doctor. He's just NOT aggressive. If these tests come back negative, I'm going to suck it up and cancel a class and go to Columbus for a day to the diabetes ONLY clinic there.

if i didn't to turn in finals I would have went back to him today. Hi I was 155 this morning, right now my sugar is 343. Go on, hospitalize me and watch it NOT go down when you put me on some restrictive diet from hell

Honestly, this doc sounds like an ass. Maybe you should go to Columbus to get some straight answers for once. It kind of reminds me of the pills they put my bro on. He had to take an anti-depressive that caused drowsiness and another pill to conteract the drowzy with another pill to conteract the hyperness the other pill caused. Seems your doc just wants to cover up problems with more pills not to mention he almost made that snide remark about your weight.

i know where he's coming from. Endocrinologists see a lot of weight problems and patients lie all the time about it. It gets to the point you don't believe them. half the time I never did either mostly because I could SEE they were lying ot me

I'm not even a doctor and I know a lot of your symptoms sound exactly like an adrenal tumor, or a tumor on those other glands that also sit on the kidneys and produce the same symptoms as adrenal tumors if disrupted. See, watching all those Mystery Diagnosis shows is good for something, even if I can't remember the names of half the diseases/body parts that feature in them. Anyway, somebody somewhere has got to explore the adrenal tumor theory, even if it's just an outside shot and done solely as a matter of thoroughness. They owe you that much, since they aren't making any headway with conventional treatment.

Now I get to pee into a bucket for 72 hours...

If it turns out to be Cushings, I have a close friend who's had Cushings for about 40 years. Let me know, and I can put you in touch with her for support and wisdom-passing....
