After getting over the 'it's cruel to invite me to interview when you know I'm not a researcher stage,' I had to think of things i COULD suggest.

When I think research I think big biochemical things that cost millions but that's not always the case.

I could suggest (and I'm typing them here in part to remind myself to look it all up on the research sites the school pays for which aren't that great but...)

The antimicrobial affects of bamboo - no lie saw SHEETS making this claim and my first thought was, probably a lie, second thought was, if it's true and it can be uses like cotton then why not make naturally antibiotic wound dressings

It's known that exercise decreases blood sugar. My brother thinks as do I, that no one is really looking into the TYPES of exercise. We're talking an obsese, often aged population with morbidity. They might not be capable of intense cardio. I'd like to look at the effects of cardio vs weight training vs tai chi/yoga vs aquatic cardio. (this is the one I'll work up first)

Alternative medicine is a fact of life. I'd like to examine it used combined with western, say acupunture for lowering blood sugar, or energy healing (I know a professor in AZ who is doing this and his book has a lot of web sites). Granted this one is a bit...out there, sort of a back of the mind thing

But no I still do NOT feel good about any of this

*offers you cappucino* Is it possible they might be inviting you because there are other things among your qualifications that impressed them? You never know, they might be reevaluating what they need as a whole area and want to speak with you because you must have something they like. Convening any committee is a real pain and I doubt they would go to all the trouble unless you have something they want to know more about by speaking with you in person :D

*keeps my fingers crossed for you*

that's my only thought because there really IS no other reason to waste their time and money or mine.

How about genetically engineering a microbe that has a life of 3 days and eats fat cells? Heh.

Srsly, however, I think that you would make an excellent addition to any teaching staff.

Also, on the bamboo point, what if the bamboo could develop into a new line of antibiotics? You know that penicillin is on its way out.

At any rate, I am hoping for the best for you. :-D

I like the Goku with chocolate icon.

Let us not forget the healing power of chocolate. We all thought that was bull for the longest time.

Bamboo is sort of the universal element, isn't it?

Do something that has some relation to your medical school speciality.
