Shift - Giles - post series

His whole life could be looked at as a series of shifts. He had veered away sharply from his family’s idea of what he should have been doing with himself. Sex, drugs and rock and roll, what more could he have wanted? Apparently magic and power and he had paid the price for that. He shifted again, back into the dusty books, ideals, attitudes of the Council, barricading himself within his duty. Adapting to California and riding herd on teenagers had been the biggest shift yet. Shifting relationships, shifting earth under their feet, at least he didn’t grow deep roots.
