the [livejournal.com profile] open_on_sunday challenge was to use Tragically Hip lyrics

Angelus/Darla Cemetery Side road 1700’s

Liam licked his lips, tasting the copper and salt of the groundskeeper. Confusion slowly faded away as the tiny blonde next to him fastidiously brushed grave dirt from his clothing.

”Feel better now?” she asked him

Liam looked at her, trying to place her name. He couldn’t remember but he knew this wisp of a woman had killed him. How could that be? “A little,” he admitted. Mostly he was still confused and hungry.

“I promised to show you the world.” She smiled. “But first you need to cut ties to here.”

Liam grinned back, feeling the hunger rising. “Gladly.”

Angelus/Darla Springtime in Vienna 1700’s

Always the early riser to make the most of the night, Angelus took a deep breath in of the warm spring time air. As good as her word, Darla was showing him the world. Angelus couldn’t have imagined the grandeur of Vienna. He couldn’t wait to sink his teeth into some pale-fleshed buxom blond.

Darla took his hand and smiled. “I’m feeling cultured tonight. How about a music hall?”

“Read my mind.” He had a secret that he needed to keep from Darla. The truth was, he loved the music but she had to think it was about the blood.

Angel/ Darla - Sherpa 1900

Glancing at the Tibetan monastery walls, thoughts distracted Angelus from his meditations. He had come here after Darla had discarded him in China. In truth he was Angelus no more, but he didn’t know what name to go by.

He didn’t know why he was here, struggling with his new nature among a band of demon monks promising inner peace. His newly-recalled soul still writhed inside him, denying him peace. Darla permeated his mediation. She would have liked it here. She’d probably make a game of it, Eat the Sherpa, first one to the top wins. Peace continued eluding him.

Ah, I love it when you write anything with these two. And these three drabbles flow very nicely through the different stages of their relationship.

And (just as a side note), I really like Angelus at the end of the second drabble, "The truth was, he loved the music but she had to think it was about the blood." It sort of underlines how they were never really on the exact same wavelength even before he got his soul back.

Nice job!

Are they playing this at all anymore? I'm willing to tape during the wee hours of the morning.

very much true to character - and yes: Angelus loved the music more...though, over time, it was probably 50:50.
