The first one is 'sort of' a Father's Day drabble...


Dru, Darla & Angelus – mid 1800’s – The gift

“Come see, Daddy.” Dru pulled on Angelus’ arm. “I have a present for you.”

Angelus ignored Darla’s jealous look, letting Dru haul him deeper into their house. He couldn’t help grinning at her gift. Tied together with ribbon, ending in a huge bow, were twins, no more than six years old. The little blonde girls looked up at him with enormous terrified eyes, too frightened to even make a bleat. “How perfect, Drusilla.”

Dru twirled around the room then kissed his cheek. Leaning against him, she shot Darla a look belying the insane vampire’s innocent act. “I knew you would.”



Connor/Dawn – Post Series – Unexpected Guests

Connor took a final look at the setting, aiming for perfect. Dawn asked for exotic so Connor had done his best. Scarlet and gold scarves draped lamp shades. A futon mattress had been shoved in front of the fireplace and the mantle covered with candles. Two ostrich feathers crossed on the pillow. Connor tugged the big bow on the only thing he was wearing – a red ribbon- back into place just as the doorbell sounded. He flung open the door, his mouth dropping.

Angel and Buffy just stared. “Guess you aren’t up for patrol.”

Why wouldn’t the ground swallow him?



Angel – post series (way post) Final Goodbye

Angel would have given anything to not be standing where he was, even though it was an inevitability. Those sweet years just before and extending into the twenty-first century had been some of his best but now he had to say goodbye to the last remnants of those times. He had years to spend with Connor, the demon blood in the boy extending his life three times that of a normal human, but it still wasn’t enough. Angel fingered the bow on the funerary display, looking down into his son’s wrinkled face. He kissed the cold, withered cheek. “Goodbye, son.”
