Day 15

In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something fun you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it

I'm too tired for any fun challenges but how about this, I challenge you to leave more feedback. Any more we get so little feedback compared to years ago. Even if it's just a 'Hey I liked this' that is so much better than the echo of empty inbox. Make a creator happy. And if you hated it or it's not your thing, I challenge you to just move on (and this is not just a fanfic thing. Goodreads is plagued with people who just run around and put things like 'werewolves suck' on werewolf stories).

And I challenge you to say thanks to the people who took the time to give you a little feedback (man I wished there was a PM thing on AO3 so I could thank the people who give me kudos. I've recently had a few read dozens of stories and give me kudos and I couldn't thank them). I've seen people say they're 'too busy' to say thanks. No, you probably aren't. Let's spread a little kindness and gratitude.

This is an amazing challenge! For some reason, when people love fanworks, they don't say anything, but it's the people who hated your work that always leave the most detailed comments. (I know someone who got a comment on their podfic where someone actually consulted with their sister to dissect all the reason why the podfic was 'awful'.)

I hope that many people take t his challenge to heart. :)

Thank you. I hope so too. I see that a lot. Back in the 90s and early 2000s I used to get a lot of feedback but even in new fandoms I see very little any more

As for the negative ones, oh yes, so much so. They love to do it. I review on Goodreads for professional writing and there are people who proudly proclaim they only review negatively. It's like a sick power they feed off of
