it's been in the 70's for a week. It's supposed to be in the 70's all this week into the next. Today was ninety-one (yes I hear the AZ brigade that makes up my flist sniggering at me). I was roasting. But in spite of the hot temperatures, we had a good time. I was going to share the album. does anyone know how to make photobucket albums public? This one has a share it to LJ option. I tried it but it needs a guest password but it never lets me provide one...

So i'll give you my highlights.

A big fat bear, no really look for it

a gibbon missing her arm

my one complaint and I know it sounds bad, people with infants in strollers. One, I just don't think it's healthy to have an infant out in that direct sun for hours. Secondly those strollers are hazards. People were tripping everywhere. They took up huge gobs of space and I'm thinking a kid in a stroller is pretty much too young to remember anything.

One the other hand many parents had kids with monkey backpacks where the tail is a leash. I thought those were the coolest thing ever

Oh and the zoo really has a nice aquarium in it. I was impressed. I got a lot of great shots in there

Well, it's either backpacks or strollers, and sometimes you have to haul the kid around in a stroller (the polite thing to do is get a lightweight instead of those SUVs so popular these days) because otherwise you'll spend your entire blasted life indoors watching Oprah reruns and going insane waiting for the kid to be old enough to remember anything. Actually, it's good for little ones to go out in public, they don't remember much, but the socialization and talking that goes on helps later on with language and socialization.
And you'll be surprised at how even a six month old can/will respond to something new, particularly an animal. Good thing the elephants are behind a fence or they'd be coated in small children poking, prodding, and pulling at the new "toy".
Neat image of jellyfish, though.

i guess my point is, they're utterly in the way. No one can do anything. Whole tours of children had to be removed from the area without seeing anything because of two or three inconsiderate people with their strollers blocking everything and not moving.

Great set of pictures. I love zoos and I haven't been in so long. I have to get over there.
