Hey I taught

and no one was maimed in the process (there was one chick who came close). It wasn't so bad really. Granted all I did was read the syllabus to them like they're unable to actually read (legal thing, has to be since every school does it. That way they can't say they didn't know it was there) and taught some simple terminology. I can already see a) who the pain in the asses will be (like the older one who's terrified of technology, or the one who sat there arms cross, looking like she's sucking lemons for three hours, yeah that's the one that nearly got maimed when she starts loudly zipping and unzipping her bookbag at 20 minutes to the end of class) b) that me and technology don't quite mix c) that I'm already going to fast for them. Thank god for the 40 oz bottle of water I brought to drink from to keep me from really getting on a roll.

My boss offered some helpful suggestions. Tomorrow and next monday will be the sucky days. CHEMISTRY. Blech. Once I get past that it'll be okay. That's the stuff, despite my degree in the damn subject, that I don't like and tend to forget. Hell the first test is in like three weeks.

The important things is I survived and didn't have to start off with a little preemptive murder.

Other news: furance is fixed. Whee. Now that the futon is in the living room and I'm sitting in there I notice something in the fireplace. Picture if you will closed glass doors on the fireplace. Behind them are metal mesh fire screens (real popular in the 70's), then the actual fireplace. There's something on the metal. At first glance, I think leaf...a leaf shaped suspiciously like a hanging bat. Then I think...oh no. The flue must have been open when this house stood empty...sure enough, it's a fully articulated bat skeleton. WHee.

And last but most assuredly NOT least, go read rahirah 's summer_of_spike entry, Baby is a Centerfold. It's one of the funniest things I've read in a long time, in that sick twisted way I so love. Yeah, it's Spuffy but for my non-Spuffy friends keep in mind a)Buffy doesn't make an actual appearance b) it's told from Dawn's pov and is far more a Spawn friendship story than a Spuffy one (just accept for this story that Spike & Buffy are sexually involved). It's a fun ride. Trust me.

I think my boss said it too for that matter. Basically we can't have a student up in arms saying I didn't know blah blah blah when hey you have it in your hands and I read it to you like you're two.

the fact that you were able to complete a degree in it is incredibly impressive. I didn't think ordinary humans could do that.

true and I did it in 4 year while completing my biology degree at the same time and being only one/two classes short of a degree in english & history in that same 4 year period...man, what kinda drug was I on?
