got a new game

I suppose it could come back to bite me in the butt but I think this is karma finally giving me something good. I sent my brother a hallmark ecard for his birthday this month and there was a 'free game' attached to it. It was from Big Fish games where I do have an account because Borders gave out two free games there on my bill and I snatched them up.

SO I try to claim my free game, one of BF's older offerings and the coupon had expired. I complained and they gave me a 100% off coupon for ANY game (said so in the email) I'm sure they assumed I'd just get my old free game but hell there were no restrictions. I picked up their newest one Redrum, about a psychic little girl trapped in an insane asylum with a dangerous doctor. Her detective uncle wants to free her but is also using her ghost whispering skills to solve crimes. Mostly it's just find the objects and word game puzzles but i like that.

Just what I needed,something to distract me from my writing.

tried to go get my contacts and meds today. It was sunny on campus. A mile from home it was spitting snow. No biggie. I head for Jackson. I crest the hill my apart is nestled into the foot of and end up in a freaking white out snow storm. Needless to say I creeped along to the first turn around and came home sans meds and contacts (not like i need them this instant) Sadly it stopped as soon as I got into my apartment but you know if I had tried to get to Jackson that white out would have been there all 12 miles up there


Hikaru and Dan want me to skip to the sex and stuff to boost the word count. I'm not ready for that. Do try to tell me your story sequentially boys.

Oooh, that game sounds good, and exactly what I love to play! I wonder if Real Arcade will get it, since they offer a lot of Big Fish games. I may go cruise around the Big Fish site when lj goes down. :-(

I've been a member of Real Arcade for years now, and even though they don't get a new game a day, some of their games have been less then stellar. Unfortunately, I've purchased some of those games. LOL

I did go ahead and start an account with Big Fish yesterday. They do have a lot of the Hidden Object games that I like and that Real Arcade doesn't have, so I shouldn't have any trouble fulfilling my contract with them. I really do play my computer games a lot.

What i DO like about BFG is that you can preview any game for an hour first so you don't buy the suck by accident

You get the free hour download with RA, too. But sometimes, that hour isn't enough to warn you that the replay value isn't much or that it just gets boring further into the game.

And, yeah, I hated trying to dl when I had dial-up. I used to dl at work and copy the game onto a disk to take home. That worked pretty well.

sadly with BFG you only get the set up stub THEN you have to sign in and do the rest which I'm not sure i can do on my flash

I downloaded a game onto my flash here at work yesterday (yes, I was *that* bored), and it seemed to work perfectly fine off of it. I don't know if it'd copy okay onto a hard drive though, which is what I did with the RA discs. You might want to try it though if you see another game you'd like to buy.

I'm registered at BFG myself. I get their emails and download every single one of those games. I play the REDRUM a bit. Not long enough to form an opinion though.

Oh, I downloaded that one last night to try, and... how the hell do you get out of it without doing a ctrl-alt-del and shutting it down through Windows Task Manager? I couldn't find the exit button anywhere.

you might have to go to menu. My other two games did NOT have that issue but redrum does and it doesn't save my freaking level. time to bitch to BFG

I couldn't even find the menu. I backspaced to the first level, and that was as far it would go. The only option there was "replay" intro. Definitely not a game I'm going to buy, that's for sure. I'm sorry you used your free game credit on it. :-(

HAHA, Redrum! That's hysterical. Just watch out for viruses that sometimes get attached to these things. Some may look like games but they're really not. >__
