and then there's this. This makes me very sad I really liked Ms Barret. I liked that Roddenberry wanted her as a second in command (he lost that battle with the network). Nurse Chapel was good but I really connected with her as Luxwana Troi (funny that 0_mother_0 picked her for me in that series meme). I met both Ms. Barret (and her husband though at different times). She seemed like a very nice lady. I'll miss her.

I'm reading a lame mystery set in Orlando dealing with the kitschy Florida. Now i lived there for three years tell me how I was unaware there was a Titanic exhibit complete with ice berg, a pirate themed dinner show, a building shaped like a giant orange, and a Ripley's complete with vampire killing kit ( i mean i knew there was a ripley's in ST. Augustine!) Maybe evil_little_dog, knowing my love of the tacky, just hid the truth from me. Or more likely since we never went to I-drive if we could avoid it, we totally missed it. Now I want to go back just for the tacky.

I never got a chance to meet her though I went to a talk that Roddenberry did back in the late '70's (the start of all things fandom for me).

Aw, so sorry to hear of her death - Yeah, we were just talking about her :(

(P.S. That goofy article didn't say her age or birth-death dates, do you/anyone happen to know?)

UPDATED to say: Just looked it up. She was 76. (February 23, 1932 – December 18, 2008)
