And why I loathe them so much. Okay I don't know why. I'm pretty sure I was born hating the things. I don't know why anyone would want one. About the only dolls I have ever wanted were the Living Dead dolls.

So a few weeks back mom and my brother were up in the storage area of Gram's looking for something of his and found this box of dolls...all naked, decapitated and limbless. The mystery here is WHY mom ever kept the things. Quite obviously I hated them. WHY were there so damn many of them? How many did i have to dismember to get my point across? Why did no one think I needed therapy...

However there was a treasure trove of 60's and 70's Barbie clothes. Some are in good shape. Others are wrecked. I might try selling that crap on Ebay. Tons of go go boots and clogs (yay the 70's). I was apparently always a fan of anything that glittered.

*snicker*

You didn't wind up in therapy because back then, no one knew we might NEED it to grow up and be well-adjusted.

According to my mom, I just ignored my dolls.

But yeesh, dismembering them?

hated those things. I used to hang them naked from the trees and shoot them with my brother's BB gun

I had a truckload of gorgeous Barbie clothes.

I was in love with this coat (http://www.fashion-doll-guide.com/Vintage-Barbie-Red-Flare.html)

I cut my dolls' hair. And was always frustrated when it didn't grow out again. I hate things I can't undo. *g*

But to be fair, I mostly ignored the dolls (except when I was making them have bisexual orgies...no, seriously, as far back as I can remember, Midge and Barbie would hook up and Ken and Midge's husband would be humping in the corner) and played with my horse figurines.

But - dude, go go boots? Are there any that would fit me? (Size 7-8) I'll buy them from you if there are... I LOVE go go boots.

You should definitely sell the Barbie clothes - they will go really well on Ebay especially if they are vintage. I've sold loads of them. (I used to collect Barbie dolls and clothes) my advice is to pick out any special ones for separate listing and then lump all the others together in a job lot. The more the merrier. Just lay them all out nicely and describe them properly. People don't mind them not being in perfect condition as long as they are in reasonable condition and you tell them they've got wear and tear. (Not sleeves torn off…!)

Good luck!

well that's good to know. (Ebay had no bids on anything when i looked) I'll take your advice. I need to iron them and mend a few but yes all will be notated as played with, stained etc since they are. the shoes are in great condition. I never used them

*snort* I liked my barbies et al, but they were still brutalized. Most wound up with short Holocaust hair from too many hair cuts and broken legs from trying to 'accommodate' Ken and GI Joe on leave.

And dragonclicks :)

I used to bury naked barbies in the snow; when it melted in spring, my mother was upset to find a bunch of wet, dead-looking barbies all over the front lawn and sidewalk. :D

Dismembered dolls? Hm. Could it be that you have ALWAYS wanted to be a surgeon?

Personally, I've never liked dolls, either. Used to drive my mother crazy.

I had very, very few dolls. My "Barbie" phase lasted about six months. :S Did you know that you can only pull Barbie's head off so many times before you stretch the socket and she begins to have some severe neck problems? I had an alcoholic Barbie and she wrecked her car where upon her head was cut off. She also lost her legs in the accident. I couldn't get her arms off, though.

I would so have taken all those dolls off your hands when I was younger. (Erm...before you could dismember them, of course.)

I always hated baby dolls (I never wanted to be a mother), but even when I was quite little, I went for the adult stuff. Couldn't wait to be an adult and not childish any more.

Those Barbie clothes could be worth a lot right now. To collectors, if not the current Barbie users.
