Is like any other saturday. Big whoop.

I busted a ganglion cyst in my middle finger today, right where the finger joins the hand. Grabbed the dryer handle too hard. OUCH. I had planned to go after that with a syringe this weekend but now I don't have to. Finger is red and swollen.

In editing Splinters of Silver and COld Iron I realized I REALLY abuse the words "oh' and "well" at the beginning of sentences and like 99% of the time those words are never necessary.

Am thinking of putting Machiavelli Moon ( the vampire/werewolf thing) up on my original fiction filter. WOuld anyone be interested in seeing it?

As promised from Eat this Not That

CANDY
Sweet ‘n’ sour stuff tends to be lower-fat than chocolate, but it’s still dessert. Size counts too!
Worst: Skittles (7.2 oz.) 826 calories, 9.7 grams fat
Better:Twizzlers (6 oz.) 606 calories, 3.8 grams fat
Best: Sour Patch Soft & Chewy Candy (3.5 oz.) 375 calories, 0 grams fat
POPCORN
Yes, it’s a whole grain, but a large has close to the number of calories many women need in a day!
Worst: Large buttered popcorn 1,640 calories, 126 grams fat (That’s almost two days’ worth of fat!)
Better: Small, no butter 400 calories, 27 grams fat
Best: Kid size, no butter 300 calories, 20 grams fat
COLD TREATS
Worst: Toll House chocolate-chip cookie ice cream sandwich 490 calories, 23 grams fat
Better: Butterfinger Loaded ice cream bar 290 calories, 19 grams fat
Best: Edy’s strawberry iced-fruit bar 120 calories, 0 grams fat
CHOCOLATE

Unfortunately, most concession stands offer only one size (and who isn’t going to eat the whole box?). So go for something in a smaller package to keep portions in check.

Worst: Peanut M&M’s (5.3 oz.) 786 calories,39.3 grams fat

Better: Junior Mints (4.75 oz.) 595 calories,10.5 grams fat

Best: Milk Duds (3 oz.) 371 calories,13.1 grams fat

HOT SNACKS
In general, beware of anything with glow-in-the-dark cheese.
Worst: Nachos with cheese 894 calories, 52.5 grams fat
Better: Hot dog with ketchup 315 calories, 19 grams fat
Best: Soft pretzel 310 calories, 4 grams fat

Um seriously? WTF. Stabler, Mr. Anger Management, gets sucked into thinking a sex offender thief dad isn't so bad and gives the man, who has a court order prohibiting him from seeing his daughter, the child in question because her mom abandoned her. WHAT? How fing stupid

Still a week behind b ut I got to see the first one of the new chapter. So...we're done ripping off comic books and now we're ripping off Lost. So in the how f'ing stupid category, how f'ing stupid is Peter to blow out the side of a plane in midair?

at the rate I'm going and how far behind I am, I'll be seeing Dollhouse about a month frmo now.

Dollhouse was...interesting.

Mom cracked me up: "I tried to watch it but fifteen minutes into it, I knew it wasn't for me...."

Had to do a massive double take when I saw your icon. I was like...wait, that looks familiar. LMAO! It's been a long day. But its nice to see someone using my old icons ;)

Hope your finger gets better!

*raises hand* Me! Me! I'm interested in reading it. I can print it up at work and relax with it once I get home (I'm currently bookless except for your novella).

And what are the green and orange eggs? I don't think I've seen those before...

Yes, do put MM up on your OF filter. I don't understand why agents and/or publishers aren't biting on that story. The parts I remember having read were quite good, and it's not like said publishers and agents are drowning in great manuscripts, or even readable ones. I won't comment unless you ask me to, since this is a finished manuscript, but I really am interested to see what's going on with the characters and story line.

okay I will. Any comments you have time to make are always welcome. Trust me, I finished this in oh...96? 97? certainly before I went to Wisconsin. I doubt it's been seriously edited since 99.

I still like i t. I do see TONS of things I'd like to change and AM changing so...

and thank you. Honestly I see so much good stuff in my various writers' groups that I've never got why we aren't published

All the good stuff in all the writers' groups in the world won't make it into print if the writer (a) doesn't finish his/her manuscript and/or (b) doesn't submit it. Finishing seems to be the biggest obstacle, especially for first-time novelists. You have a complete manuscript to work with, so you're way ahead of the game in that respect.

I'd be interested in seeing Machiavelli Moon. I just need more time to READ.. or maybe I should just learn to read faster. I'm so far behind.

sigh my craptacular connection lost both my responses to you.

I'll have to go see if you're on the original fiction filter. If not i'll add you

And Holy CARP? where are they getting their numbers for Popcorn? they are completely COMPLETELY incorrect. Unless they are counting the calories in a cup of unpopped kernals.

Look here are the numbers off my cheapo Save-a-Lot popcorn. Called Butter Blowout (which surprisingly is actually QUITE good, especially doctored with a little seasoning salt) a serving unpopped is 2 tbs... and has 170 calories, 11g of fat and 4g of fiber. Once you POP it though, it fills about a cup, but it expends a lot of it's calories. A popped serving of this only has 45 calories.

By Weight Watcher's numbers, that's 1 point for the popcorn, 1 for the fat, and 1 off for the fiber. There are about 3 servings in a bag, so that's still only about 150 calories, or 3 ww points. If you go with 94% fat free popcorn and use Parkay 0 calorie butter spray instead, the calories become inconsequential. It's a 0 point snack. (within reason of course) I choose the calories of the butter blowout because I prefer the taste, and I don't burn it up as easily as the 94% fat free.

I hope that makes you feel better. Are they talking about those big buckets of movie popcorn maybe? I don't know... I'd have to question what they're calling a serving, and I do wish they'd go back to serving it in a cheap biodegradable paper bag like you get at Ace Hardware for popcorn.

no no this is all for MOVIE snacks. We're talking the largebuckets I could fit my head into.

hell even some of the ones you can get for the microwave. the kettle corn, cheesy and uber butters (which I'll confess were my favorite) are pretty bad. Others like you said are okay.

moot point, diabetics can't eat corn so I haven't bought popcorn in a long time. I occasionally buy a box but it takes me a year or more to get thru it
