Kanzeon couldn’t, nay wouldn’t, explain to her companions why she studied the foursome so intently. Revealing that much of her plan wasn’t healthy. They were already angry that she spent so much time watching her little band of misfits through the sacred pool. If they had any clue why she did it, there would be hell to pay in heaven. She played her attentiveness off as their antics being her brand of theater and who didn’t need some entertainment? Heaven was so dull sometimes.
But she needed to keep tabs on them since she already had to interfere once to save Konzen…no, Sanzo’s life. How rude and morally questionable he had become, it amused her. Konzen would be appalled but she found Sanzo much more interesting in his crudeness.
Of course, some things never changed. Hakkai still had Tenpou’s keen intellect and love of books but had managed to at least learn how to organize himself and keep a place tidy. Kenren still liked booze and thought with his dick. Damn, he could still kiss. Just thinking of it made Kanzeon tingle in all of her various sexual bits.
Little Goku wasn’t so little any more. His sweetness and sense of play were not diminished but he was growing, maturing. He was becoming impressive. Hopefully, he’d start emulating Hakkai more and lose a little of his potty mouth. She was fairly sure that would be about the only part of Hakkai that was capable of rubbing off on the boy. Ken…no, Gojyo was too much of an influence. While he still clung to Konzen as much as he always had, Goku had begun to think for himself.
Singularly, they were a force of nature. Together, they were stronger than anyone save her knew. They would succeed. They had to. Kanzeon feared for the world if they failed. Still, she had unshaken faith in her boys.
Success was only a matter of time.
