Writerly Ways and a request
May. 17th, 2009 11:40 amAgain not too many thoughts this week. I was too stressed out to do much in the way of writing. Pretty much gave up on the morning pages this week, managed to do a page and a half with them but that's about it. Only made 2,318 new words of original fiction (I'm not counting any of the fanfic I do in this) and next to none of that was from the morning pages (those were dedicated to fan fic this week.)
So instead of whining about what I didn't do any further let's whine just a little about this. I put this up at my writers group but no one including me did it, in spite the interest. i thought maybe putting it back up might spark someone.
This is one of the cards in my Writer's Kit (yeah actually don't suggest buying this. It's a slick packaging deal but really not that helpful) This is one of the few cards I thought might be helpful and interesting to try.
Believable characters, just like real people, change over time. Write a brief description of your protagonist at the beginning of the piece, then a description of the same character at the end of the piece. Is there a difference? There should be, even if it’s only as subtle one. Go through your text and identify how and when your character changes. Do you adequately convey those moments to the reader?
as for the request, anyone up to beta a short (like 2 pages) Ghostbuster fanfic? THanks
yay bred my first colored stripe

Date: 2009-05-17 04:13 pm (UTC)I'm not a morning person. I'd rather write at night so once I'm back teaching 830AM classes I don't know that I'll be able to keep th is up

Date: 2009-05-17 04:24 pm (UTC)I'm not familiar with Goldberg. Though I don't actually get a lot of 'how to write' books. Most of them turn out to be not so helpful to me.
though the 3AM Epiphany by Brian Kiteley looks interesting
