Erm... you expected a bill? A letter from the state to tell you your driver's license was expiring? *blink* And that means something is wrong with Ohio? Seriously, I don't think ANY state sends out a letter to tell you your license is expiring, and you can't just pay a bill and have it renewed, you have to go to the BMV and get a new card with an updated picture anyway.
I have to do this in November and it certainly is much easier than in Missouri where I had to stand in line for ever and then have them tell me that it is unacceptable for me to have barrettes in my hair and when I asked them if they intentionally wanted the picture to look different from how I normally looked, they said (get this) "They won't show up anyway"... like somehow if I wore barrettes the camera would erase them and make it look like my hair was down in my face anyway.
My point here is this is not Ohio's fault. Ohio is the 7th largest state in the country by population despite being tiny in comparison to some of the 6 bigger states. They send out notifications about tags because you don't have to DO anything other than pay, so it's in their interest as well to send notifications. Since you'd have to go down there anyway, it is a waste of money to send you a reminder when the expiration date is clearly marked on your license anyway. *shrug* usually my bank or someone I've had to show my ID to at some point will point out to me that it's near expiration. Generally speaking, i at least know when I'm in the YEAR that it will expire even if I forget to renew it when it's actually time. I don't blame Ohio if I forget.
