Nightmares were bad enough. Having magic make them real seemed particularly unfair. Giles closed his latest book, setting it on the bed stand. A nightmare where he could no longer read, he shuddered to even think about it. He knew there were people who chose never to read unless they had to, saw it daily in the whining teens who stumbled into the library. He couldn’t imagine living in a hell without his words, without delightful characters to lead him on grand adventures, without texts that taught him new things, that helped keep his Slayer safe. Books were his love.
