To be honest, I'm cheating a bit. I'm setting it in a world where I already have three novels so I KNOW the rules of the world.

Funny thing is, I didn't get my english degree because I refused to take boys coming of age lit course adn this is gonna be a boy's coming of age (well two boys and a gal). it's fantasy. Imagine a younger COnnor complete with blood fangs (and for his friend, I'd cast Rupert Grint in a heart beat)

In the novel series, their world is dying and very frigid (think Siberia, Norway, Iceland, a lot of those cultures went into making them) and they're attacking an all human world, rich in magic to make their new home only the worst and most powerful warlord's sons change sides and help the humans.

These guys are vampiric in some ways, they drink in blood and life essences usuallyjust in small quantities (they do eat in the regular sense too) There is some magic left. Their religion is dying and powerful war lords rule the planet. The worst is the main character in this stories grandfather only he doesn't know it (and won't until about book three of the other series) They live a few thousand years and are very slow to breed. They're polygamous and have mating heat cycles that hit twice a year (the main character in this novel is too young for that. He's a teenager and they don't sexually mature until about 30 which sucks for them because they start getting horny around 13-15, like a typical teen)

The main character is a very angry young man. His mentor and Lord of the castle is that one fully gay male character I was telling you about.

Nothing like physical ailments and handicaps interfering in your writing! I often wonder what would happen if I went blind, or lost the use of my hands. I have these heroic visions of dictating stories into a tape recorder, or typing with a pencil sticking out of my teeth.

It sounds intriguing. I always love stories about characters discovering family connections they didn't know about, and how that influences their self-image.

I'm trying to see if I qualify for the whole voice activated thing. One of my writer friends has RP and is very close to being blind and it doesn't stop her (she runs my writers group and if you see Kablooey answering my posts that's her)

Well if you'd like to see it come Nov. I could probably send you bits. Makai is a very angry young man because while he's set up to become Lord of his uncle's keep (provided his uncle has no children in the meantime) but he's 'adopted' which is okay for lowerclass people but in the Royals this just means no one knows his true heritage and he's unliked (he's the lonely Goth boy if he were in high school today). Not in this book, but in another, he learns that his uncle truly is his uncle and his adopted mother is his real mother and his father is the son of that hated warlord, and is the next most reviled and feared man in their world (he's the one who went good in the series)

Makai's friends are Echyon, a sickly young man from a powerful magic using line. Echyon has the magic but is often too sick to use it. And Kylle, the daughter of a general they grew up with and didn't see as a GIRL until now (and now they both see nothingbut. Testosterone for you). Carantoc is the lord training Makai to fight, one of the better swordsmen to be found, and wants Makai as his heir should his uncle no longer need him because well, being gay he's not likely to father an heir

You know I usually do not find red headed men attractive but I think Rupert is just so cute. And talented (that whole little bunch is). It just occured to me I have the same dynamics of friends as HP, ah well, not worried. My story couldn't be different.
