You know, reading about your teaching experiences is bringing back all my traumas. How many times did I have students do that?

*hates it all*
*bangs head on desk*

Goes back to happily writing fiction.

Yes I can just imagine it does awaken old horrors. I'm beginning to see why teachers have a high degree of insanity.

It didn't make me insane (well, it did, but--), mostly it made me frustrated. I have real issues with people misunderstanding my words when I'm trying to make a point on a personal level. Then to be trying to relay facts or arguments on an issue or whatever to students and have them hear my words and repeat back a completely twisted or incomplete version of it?

And it makes me sad. How many people are out there in our world walking around with degrees in their hands who learned NOTHING in school except what made it through their personal filters??

Humans SUCK.

I hear you. With my students they'll have someone's life in their hands and they'll be there thinking I told them one thing and the opposite is true...

And then they'll blame you, because of course, it's even wrong in their notes.

THAT'S why my boss is actually handling the review since the number one complaint when they get it wrong on the test is Dana TOLD us this during the review. Yeah while she was standing on her head reciting the Greek alphabet while she's at it.

Community college students call you by your first name?

Or did you ask them to?

I always insisted on Ms. Shaffer (wasn't a doctor/prof at that point) because of wanting to maintain a little authoritative distance.

I told them Dr. Evans but since all the other teachers go by their first names (remember this is the place that told me my cotton slacks were too formal) so they call me Dana. I don't think much of it. All my patients used to as well. I never had them call me Dr. Evans.
