Honestly, the first person to mind was Jessica Fletcher. No, I'm serious here. That busybody always got her man and cleared her friends/relatives (and really who'd want to know or be related to her since you were always going to get blamed for murder that way). She wasn't bound by any legalities that I could see. She was always good for doing whatever the heck she wanted to solve her cases.
Odo from Deep Space Nine also leaps to the forefront because he is so totally dedicated to his job. (well until they decided he needed to be in love with Kira). The man can shape shift and go just about anywhere. And if i'm lucky I can sit in Quark's drinking and playing dabo until i'm cleared.
