I swear i didn't mean to buy THIS much
Jul. 10th, 2010 11:39 pmI blame the fact I barely slept last night. I debated going to Athens or Chillicothe today to go to Lowes because Walmart had no herbs or decent tomatoes left. I decided on Chillicothe because it's closer and I wanted to see if the Hobby Lobby had steampunk fixings.
So I get to Lowes, find not one but three tomatoes, two were only a dollar each. The only herb was basil so I got another dollar's worth there. Found a purple edible pepper for the same dollar.
But was i done? Oh no. And this is where things go sideways. I just wanted a few annuals to put in the pots on the porch. The annuals weren't on sale. The perennials were and cheaper than the damn annuals. Yeah I don't get it either. So they'll be a container garden this year and since I'm out of room for half of this stuff, might give it to mom next year if it survives overwintering in the greenhouse from hell on campus.
So what did I get?
Tiny Sensation Asiatic Lily for a buck
Moonlit Masquerade daylilly the only thing i bought NOT on sale (and unlike this site i just linked to lowes had it for 7$ a plant not 30)
Carpathian Bellflower in blue
sentimental blue balloon flower
Arizon Sun Blanket Flower
Neon Star Dianthus
Limerock Dream Coreopsis
double knock out rose
The rose was only 2.50 but rang up full price. Got that fixed and the kid hits final price. 256$. Um I don't think so (it was under 40 all told). Yes once everything is planted i'll take pictures
Hobby Lobby is the devil just so you know. I found a beautiful sounding Asian windchime for half price. No steampunk fixings but I DID find components for Rain's christmas gift.
I happened to notice the Hollywood Video across the street was going out of business. Yes I feel like a vulture picking at these carcasses of all the dying video stores but i got 5 dvds for under 20$. Okay granted i picked up totally weird shit, including an early Jackie Chan/John Woo collaboration. And Slither! Nathan Fillion in tons of eyeliner. THis was such a good bad movie.
My sleepless night caught up to me after the 40 mile drive home and I've been dragging ass ever since. I did finish the rough draft of my
summer_of_giles story.
