two days off in a row and I'm SO bored. I'll die tomorrow of sheer boredom. Oh I could clean this place better but that won't cure me of being bored. I'll only be bored, allergy-ridden and cranky.

I did get ALL the windows in the house plastic covered (except the two that won't be possible to do alone without risk). Hey this is the first year I actually DID it instead of just talking about it. And in the process i noticed EVERY window has caulking issues. I think this place sank about two years ago. There are faultlines in the living room, the bathroom vanity is now pulled away from the wall and Landlord must have used the cheapest materials possible. Much of the wind is blowing NOT thru the windows but thru the missing caulk. I shall get two kinds, paintable for the windows and silicone for the tub (which has so much air coming up around it I'm surprised it hasn't hit the hot air of the apt and created an indoor storm)

Skankarella is back. She disappeared when Kyo did. I was hoping she was gone for good. SHe's a feral cat and doesn't look healthy. I mean looks outright diseased and is way too wild for me to place her in any home around here other than to call the pound to come get and dispose of her. She has a kitten with her. Adorable thing but also wild. Couldn't get near to it. Guess I'm back to putting out food.

I'm still debating on when to get a cat myself or IF to get one. I'm n ot sure i can afford it. While i'd like one to go after that mouse, i need to watch the finances for a while

speaking of the mouse, it's ignoring the traps (naturally)

I will CATEGORICALLY DENY how I know about these! (Well, maybe... long story, but you read my journal... )

http://www.d-conproducts.com/traps/ultra-set.html

THESE KICK ASS! Not as great as a live trap... but it's INSTANT. (You can also reload them... it looks like I'm science experimenting when I change them. *Hello disposable latex gloves and VERY thorough hand washing/disposable implements for peanut butter baiting*)

Oh, that ugly cat that I kept calling 'Golem' when I was up visiting you? Poor ugly thing.

the problem here is this is a 6 y.o. building. he really cheaped out but he OWNS them. As a contractor you'd think he'd know the long term cost of using substandard materials

You'd think so!

Hey, maybe instead of adopting a new cat you can become a foster of one. They are still taken care of, healthwise, by the shelter but they live with you. We've done it a few times with dogs, and found good homes for all. And we really enjoyed having them around while they were here. And, hey, if you ever get too attached to part with them, you can always make it official and adopt. Something to think about.

Aww man, that's a shame - It's a really great deal that benefits everybody

they have one in Athens but i'm too far away. The local shelter is run by women with...issues. let's leave it at that. Several of us have tried to help but they're such control freaks. I will probably go adopt one there since I've dumped so many on them in the last 4 years

Come finish writing my syllabi and clean my kitchen?

And poor feral sickie kitty. Sad.

i need to clean my OWN mouse-ridden kitchen, damn vermin and I screwed up my own syllabi three times. i'm still forgetting something. One of my fellows had a good idea about electronics in the classroom b ut now i can't remember it.

what irritates me about this area is we have no feral cat program that could at least spay her

Waaah, that's all horrible. But not boring!

My first class is next Th, and Monday is MLK day, so my M-only class doesn't meet for 2 more weeks! So I can't force myself to write the dang syllabus. And my MW class doesn't meet for a week so ditto only a little less time for delaying tactics.

Ok, time to write Ed Meets Peter Pan.

i have no such luck. Classes begin tomorrow. then again it's the same classes I always teach. All i had to do was put one onto the new formal for syllabi and change the lab dates on both.

Oh and remove the failure from it. I tried making attendance mandatory by giving them points. Well, it didn't work and it was a hassle for me. I think this time I'll give a random one question 'quiz' on the day's lecture once a week just to insure at least a few of them are there

I don't know who to pity more Peter or Ed

Are you using peanut butter in the mouse traps? They like it more than cheese.

I go nuts without a cat. Maybe if/when you do get a new cat, get it from a shelter and keep it inside. Don't let it out so it won't run back and forth like Roy and Kyo. I'm sorry. Again, I'd let you borrow Cockleburr but she'd just rip your face off like she does me. :S

yep peanut butter. in fact there was old PB I forgot to clean out frmo last time (which ok EW) these guys don't want it.

yeah i want an indoor only cat. too many coyotes here Roy and Kyo started outside and never fully transitioned to indoor.

poor cock wouldn't like the trip here i don't think

In some places, indoor pets are best. If you want to take them outside, you can put them on a leash, like a dog.

And, yes, Cock screams when in a car.

i used to do that with Iktomi. Actually here isn't bad to b e out IF they're used to it like Roy and Skankie are but still i'd rather they stay inside because of the ticks and predators
