catching up on the writing meme
Mar. 12th, 2010 03:11 pmI survived the boob squish. Hoping they pay for it since it's a diagnostic one and NOT the yearl (it's a month too early for that)

30. Final question! Tag someone! And tell us what you like about that person as a writer and/or about one of his/her characters!
9. How do you get ideas for your characters? Describe the process of creating them.
That’s a difficult question really. Sometimes characters just pop into my head completely formed and uninvited and scream until I listen to them. Others are lightly based on someone I might know. Some come in dreams. Others come from thinking about someone else’s characters and wondering, well if someone with that sort of personality was forced into THIS situation what might happen and I lift that trait and play with it.
10. What are some really weird situations your characters have been in? Everything from serious canon scenes to meme questions counts!
Oh gosh, what do they do that ISN’T weird? Temple, Agni and Caleb got all porny after Temple was nearly killed by a snow demon. Makai tries to subdue who he thinks is an assassin after his mentor and ends up sinking his fangs into one of the most ruthless princes in the realm. Liam found out his lover was a dragon after Hikaru got tased and fell into Lake Apopka. Wicahpi actually met the trickster god, Iktomi. Al gets involved with a cute young guy only to find out she’s dating the spirit of her friend from college.
11. Who is your favorite character to write? Least favorite?
Maddelena, Makai, Killian, Temple, Tarran, Yukio, Tully, Hikaru, Placid and Melantha, they are all so much fun. Least favorite, name a villain, any villain.
12. In what story did you feel you did the best job of worldbuilding? Any side-notes on it you'd like to share?
Probably either Makai’s world or Tarran’s. Both were built with
evil_little_dog. Makai lives in a frozen world that is slowly dying. Tarran lives in an archipelago and I’ll just leave it at that. ASK QUESTIONS if you have them. I’ll gladly answer.
13. What's your favorite culture to write, fictional or not?
Ooo, this…you know this could be a dangerous one to answer so let me leave it as ones that I make up myself or American (Since I at least am familiar with it)
14. How do you map out locations, if needed? Do you have any to show us?
Occasionally I scribble out a map and no I have none to show.
