Good News - the eye doctor said no affects from diabetes on my eyes. YAY

bad news- My left eye really could use upgrading to the next power in lens but to do so will force me into readers for near vision. Okay, we'll leave things as is. trying to avoid the readers until the last possible moment. Ah vanity (and i do way more close reading than far so...)

Good news - got my mail and TWO books. Morticai's Luck which I won thru goodreads and HIs Majesty's Dragon which [livejournal.com profile] lyrangalia managed to wrangle me a copy via the publisher thru some kind of promotion so yay and THANKS to her.

Bad News - also in the mail were bills THREE of which that had changed their deadlines for payment. OMG if the federal gov. wants to step in with banks/creditors, they should make that illegal. How the fuck can I pay bills on time if they keep switching when they're due

Good News - finally rained

Bad News - I had to go out in it, eyes dilated, to rush those bills to the post office (since online would never cut it the way my bill pay works)...wearing a white shirt, no bra and with the a/c blasting...oh boy

Good News - Kanda goes to the vet next week

Bad News - After talking to the vets office help I'm not sure if the girls are dumb, delusion or if one vet really is 115$ more than the other...also Kanda is so light he doesn't register on my bathroom scale. I'm still half afraid I might have to put him down but he seems active. ALl he wants right now is held and I'm too busy to do it.

BEST NEWS - Another anthology is for sale check it out for free review copies

Did you tare weigh Kanda? Mom or I will weigh ourselves, pick up the dog close to the chest, and then weigh that way.

Poor little Kanda. :(

I gave up and accepted bifocals progressives some while ago. It DOES make reading easier (although I still read manga and comics without my glasses; for some reason the pictures do better without).

Poor Kanda. That's the way Sable was all his life, though; I don't think he ever weighed more than three and a half pounds even when he was healthy.

Yay for free books!

Boo for having to run out in a white shirt with no bra and dilated eyes!

Poor Bubby. I'm glad the vet's going to see him, at least.

I got my copy of Lyra's book a couple of weeks ago. haven't read it yet. But I have it.

WET. White. Shirt.

I don't really have much to say on the other stuff, other than that I hope Kanda is okay. (and that bathroom scales aren't very accurate anyway. Obviously he has to weight something)

On the vision thing. If it's any consolation to you, I have been reading UNDER my glasses for about four years now. Or just taking them off or wearing them on my head to read. This year, since I finally got the right prescription, my lenses are slightly stronger and the astigmatism correction in my right eye is no longer (incorrectly) just a mirror image of my left eye. So I also have a scrip for a bifocal if I want it. my first pair of glasses though, I ordered without it. I was more interested in seeing across the room, and content to just read under my glasses for now. I'll order the bifocal glasses later for when I know I'm going to be reading up close and want to be able to do it with my glasses on. I probably use 'under' my glasses the same way people used to use bifocals when those giant ass frames with huge lenses were in. (Ugh, I don't know how I could stand those big owl eye frames now) Of course if you wear contacts then you'll probably need a pair of lightweight readers. either that or you can get a pair of toric multi focal lenses. There is that.

Oh and btw for your glasses? unless you somehow miraculously have insurance that actually pays for your glasses, I highly highly recommend Zenni Optical (http://www.zennioptical.com/home.php) for your glasses. You may have to get your optician to measure your pupilary distance for you. I paid $8 for better glasses than I have had in about 6 years of glasses from EyeMart. (including the last pair with the wrong prescription, two pairs of glasses that BROKE IN HALF, within a week. and ultimately after four times remaking them with the same wrong prescription making them with my OLD prescription because I could see better rather than just rechecking and getting the scrip right, and then having my two pairs of glasses completely scratched up within only a few weeks because they used cheap Chinese photochromic lenses instead of the Transitions brand that I requested.) They have a huge selection of frames, and they start out at $8, so I can buy a frame every week if I want to until I have frames to go with every outfit. It'll be awesome. I can see better than I have in $8 years.

well when i tried to tare weigh him by weighing me then me with him it said he weighed 15 lb...you know what good is this scale for ME keeping track of my weight??

hell, even the eye doctor said, go get some cheap readers anywhere if I feel the need for them since I don't need bifocals. I don't need it all to read books (yet), mostly the packing inserts are getting blurry though so it's just a matter of time

Yah, I hear you about that scale thing. I have a digital scale that will say I weigh the same several times in a row, and then if I weigh myself a few minutes later after... you know... unloading... it will say I weigh more. hahahaha.

Those little readers can come in a case so small now that they're like less than half an inch around. smaller than a tampon in your purse. You can get 'em at Save a Lot, but the lowest Diopter I've found is usually +1.25 and I really need a +1.00 or even a +.75. Just a little bit of help.

Like these:

I find them in SaL all the time
