it spiked unexpectedly and badly translating into supreme bitchiness and anxiety tonight. It's not helping that my writing is still stalled and I'm moving nothing at all forward for the most part.

But I did manage to waste time with the writing meme everyone is doing. Granted it depended on what I shoved into the box

I write like
H. P. Lovecraft

I write like
Rudyard Kipling

i was surprised that i did it several times but every time i went back and put in an excerpt for a second time I always got the original analysis for it (and for the record that piece is nothing like Dan)

I pulled three different texts and got three different analysis. I wonder how they cross referenced to different authors. Well, there's nothing wrong with Dan Brown--he is an international publishing phenomenon after all.

I feel like a lot of it is pure luck and timing. I've read both Brown and Meyers, although no one's up for a Nobel, there is something incredibly engrossing about their stories. I think the ultimate goal of literature is to entertain readers, to get them thinking about the world in a new way. And the fame and money are also great perks!

that is so very true. For me, this year, I have managed to pick up SO many books that made me think just one thing: my writers group has way better offerings than this stuff.

should be happy though, an anthology with my story in it came out today so...at least the world of erotica will know me

If it makes you feel any better, I got Dan Brown, Stephen King, and Kurt Vonnegut. At first I was like, "I haven't even read his books!"

Then I was like, "Yay!"

And then I was like, "This just keeps getting better and better."

I decided it had to do with fandom and perspective, regarding the first two samples (they were fanfiction) and then my journal was like, an analysis of my actual feelings being transplanted into my prose.

So, yes, the last one made me absolutely dance inside. That first one was an experiment, damn it.

I bought a couple of his books out of sheer curiosity, but I still haven't read Da Vinci Code and probably never will, so they sit unread.

I might sell them on Amazon, really.

Dan Brown shows me nothing. My parents love him. Each to their own.

I'm still trying to figure out what in my stories triggered who I got

Ok, I see how this works. I had monks looking in dusty old books for clues to a magic sword - Dan Brown. I had tribal warriors going after the soldiers who destroyed their camp - James Fenimore Cooper (Last of the Mohicans). It's done on content.

yes that's what I figured it was doing but i'm trying to think what in my steampunk murder mystery = Dan Brown or for that matter what in my gay erotica/murder mystery screamed H P Lovecraft?
