Had a weird dream. At first I was dreaming about Roy fighting Olivia and Alex Louis both of whom had swords. Just as he was duelly skewered, I 'woke up' (but only woke up in my dream). Brother had opened my bedroom door and let in Kanda and he was followed by his skanky mom. I yelled at Brother what was she doing here and he said Mom let the cats in. She jumped on the bed, covered in those flea allergy scabs. I freaked and hauled her out only to see cats all over my house. Mom was there talking to two animal rescue people who were going door to door trying to get people to adopt. Kanda was in a room with five other cats, including one that was colored just like a german shepard (which was cool) somehow Kanda's shoulder was now totally dislocated, perpendicular to his body but no one thought that was anything to worry about (except me). As one of the rescue workers was going thru her spiel, the other one asked me why did I keep calling Kanda a boy. He was obviously a girl. I said he was neutered then i woke up.

I still want the german shepard kitten. I DO think Kanda has allergy induced asthma.It seems mild and I don't see me asking the vet for the inhaler. I looked it up. It's the same meds I take for MY asthma. That stuff is brutal. Your heart races. You shake. You feel like you're coming out of your skin and it CAN kill you. Unless he gets much worse I think he's going untreated. I am wondering however if he has dermatitis from allergies though.He has dry scaly scabs that might not be from catching himself on some crap. I have one that I'll run a KOH test on in the lab to be sure it's not a fungal infection. Right now he's fascinated by my coffee pot doing its thing. I hope he doesnt' do anything retarded.

Fandom, why is it impossible for some people to write THEIR ship without bashing on others or making the canon ship characters look like idiots to justify their own non-canon ship? It's not just regulated to slashers (but reading a painful yaoi is what brought this up again). Back in the hot and heavy Buffy days, the het shippers are just as bad. Riley was made out to be this horrible monster. Angel was an idiot to make Spuffy look good and Spike was an idiot to make B/A look good. I don't get it. Why is it so impossible for you to write your ship without bashing? I'd like to think I manage it on a weekly basis, regardless of the ship I'm writing. Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm not this horribly blatant.

And while I DO love Autumn, two 30 degree temp drops in one week is killing me. Between last Sunday and this we have gone from high 90's to high 40's. The cold drizzle is nobody's friend. My head hurts, all my joints hurt. Kanda is trying to tell me to turn on the heat (not happening) by tucking his nose into his tail (buddy it really is 70 in here. Adjust).

This was the farm house that used to own all the land my apt complex is built on. 5 years ago it was in decent shape (if too close to I-35) then became a meth house for a couple of months (as if that wouldn't be noticed here in the middle of nowhere) and has been abandoned ever since. it went to hell fast

I quite agree with you about ships and the unnecessary bashing thereof. It's stopped me enjoying an otherwise fun story numerous times before. For me, the best justification of any pairing in fic, canon or non-canon, is making it convincing and compelling in the story. You won't convince me you can write Pairing X crackling with chemistry just by spending half the story explaining that Pairing Y sux.

I like to think that these problems of clashing ships are far better resolved with group sex anyway. XD

yes exactly. It's like trust in the reader a bit. If I'm reading your Roy/Ed, Buffy/Spike etc it's because I probably already LIKE the pairing (or am here to troll which is another fandom pain in the ass).

Your story for example, while NSI never really moved beyond UST, you also didn't bash on Ed/Winry or Roy/Riza just to give your ship viability. The pairing didn't need extra justification.

group sex is also good. I go for that one a lot.

Yes, exactly. While you might have to work a bit harder with rare pairings, mostly you can expect readers to arrive already feeling positive about the pairing.

Thanks for saying that about NSI, it means a lot. I worried a lot over accidentally inviting Ed/Win ship bashing in that fic - which is partly why I was so vague about the break-up, as in circumstances like that both parties tend to lose their dignity, say things they regret, etc. I knew readers would forgive Ed for acting like an ass, but given that it was a Roy/Ed fic I wanted to be very clear about not making Win the bad guy.

With Roy/Riza my worry was more about ship teasing, because they're so close, and when I write them platonically there's always a bit of a buzz between them anyway.

Group sex is good indeed.

well when it comes to truly rare pairings, i figure people are there out of curiosity.

I thinkyou did fine with NSI. I mean how often do childhood sweethearts really work out? I can believe that they gave it a try and just drifted apart without animosity (the description of all my relationships...)

I suppose so! But it's more of a sell than the established pairings where you sort of expect the average reader is thinking "mm, bring it on, when do we get to the porn?"

Thanks. I have a couple of friends who've been with their partner since they were teenagers, and I can also see Ed and Win staying the course as they do in the 108 epilogue, but I agree with you that more often than not life happens and your first great love ends. I do know a lot of people who went on to be great friends with their first love after the break-up.

well yes there's always a few but for most of us we go on to school/work and everything moves into the past. i was good friends with my exfiance for years

My previous cat had asthma, but we never medicated. I would sometime in the winter take her into the bathroom and take a really steamy shower. We heated the house with wood stoves so it got super, super dry.

And totally weird about Kanda's dream shoulder! I hate freaky dreams like that.

Any my favorite justification for any pairing is that it's hot. :D

yeah i really don't think it's necessary to medicate Kanda. The wheezing ends within a few breaths. He's doing better than me.

oddly 'it's hot' does not motivate me at all. It has to make some sort of logical sense
