"Merry Christmas." John raised a mug of hot cocoa. "Mai, this tree looks really nice. Naru, don't you agree?"

The young head of SPR glanced up from where he was looking over Ling's shoulder at the computer. "Yes," he said reluctantly. A hint of a smile crossed his face. "It was a good idea, after all."

"Talk about damning with faint praise," Ayako said as she found some carols on the radio. "There, that's more festive."

"See, I do have good ideas." Mai grinned, carrying in another tray of hot chocolate. She made sure that Naru and Lin took some. "Monk-san, dim the lights a little. I want to see the tree lights twinkle."

"Is that the only reason?" Monk waggled his eyebrows.

Mai narrowed her eyes. "What do you mean?"

Monk plucked a decoration off the tree, green leaves, white berries tied in a bow. "Oh you know." He came over with the mistletoe, dangling it over her and Naru.

"Mai, you do know it's a tradition to kiss under the mistletoe," John said while Masako glared a Monk-san.

"What?" She blushed. "But Naru would never…"

Naru leaned in and kissed her softly. The only sounds were the carols as he smiled as quick as a snowflake landing on fire then he turned away from the stunned group and went back to work over Lin's shoulder.
