First Day Back

It went better than anticipated. I have a bunch of live pistols in my nursing class. This will either be very fun or highly disruptive. We shall see.

The anatomy class was deader. I have someone who is active military...yeah I think I could teach on a military base. I admit it, I get off on all the yes ma'am's, will do, ma'am's.

I put in for my faculty development money but damn I need 2200 to cover the costs of this convention. I might have to go for the two days of the workships only. this is where I’m staying They have the rooms down to 130$ a night which isn't tremendously expensive these days (which is just sad). Hell when i wanted to do spring break of 2006 in madison WI the holiday inns were this much...

I had two big boxes waiting for me at the post office. One was my new book club membership. finally resigned up for the SF book club. Now i have a ton of books I want to read including I AM 4 and Night of the Living Trekkies...

the other box was my holiday gift from silvrethorn. It was huge. I set it down to go change out of my work clothes, i come back and Roy is on top of it crushing all the 'fragile' markings. I show him off. Open it, have to go do something, come back, two cats pulling out the packing materials getting her kitty's scent up their noses. It was a very cool piece of art. THANK YOU.





The script is 'kyo' which stands for strength and bravery. I love it.

Today I taught a new class of first years (taking over a seminar from someone else). Four out of twenty-five had read the set text (Oedipus Rex - yes, I know, Greek tragedy not exactly my speciality). Let's see how many have read it by next week. Bear in mind it's really short and in a very straightforward English translation - you could read it in half an hour over a cup of coffee.
