Okay it's bad enough you're forcing Emily Prentiss off the show (the actress's name escapes me) but do you have to do it with a boring, predictable as the tides, stupid story arc. I'd rather you have just transfered her, killed her or got her pregnant. still predictable but it would be better than this. And what does Nichols have to think knowing SHE is the low rent replacement?

Castle - your last two parter was superb. that is all

I think my mother is going to go insane. My cousins and her brother are pressuring her to bring Grandma home. They feel so sorry for her.You know it's reality check time. She can barely stand on her own. She will not even walk to the bathroom on her own and she is incontenient. She can not cook for herself any more nor dress herself (okay some of this she could do but won't). She's on oxygen. THe doctors ALL say she needs 24 hr care.

One cousin who wants to bring her home and she'll help lives in NC. Is she going to drive up to PA when it's her week? My uncle isn't going to do it. My other cousin isn't. She has to work and has two kids. My brother is too ill. So they expect mom to be what? House frau? she's done that most of her life.

For that matter, what is to feel sorry for? This assisted living is gorgeous. She's with people her age. They play Wii bowling, they play bingo and cards, they have shuttles to take them ANYWHERE they want to go. She is never alone and if she needs help, nurses are there at the push of a button. At HOME, she's down a dead end road with NO ONE around, most of her friends are dead. All she has there is looking at her tv with no one to talk to AND we'd have to get 24 hr nursing in which she refuses to have because otherwise we're negligent if something happens.

It's not like she's in some slummy place. I don't get this.


Sigh, I see LJ's server move is causing a few issues with lj alerts. I'm getting everything fine from this afternoon but not yesterday and sadly the Al/Ling story wasn't well received.

Time to get back to big bang. At least one artist is in touch with me.





This is futher up the road, very near the apple farm. It's obviously a one room school house with a modern shed next to it. It was not in an area i was comfortable trying to park.

yeah exactly. She only wants to go home to save money but it'll cost MORE to pay for home nursing. My cousins need to either make a real plan for this or be quiet

Have the cousins who want her brought home actually seen the assisted living, or are they working off a pre-existing idea of what a 'nursing home' is like? I know in an extended family (Helen has a big, close extended family) it's easy for misunderstandings and second-hand ideas to circulate and for things to get exaggerated.

It sounds like your grandma's in a really good place, though. That must be a weight off your mind (if she gets to stay there).

oh the cousins and her son are there often so they know how nice it is. My grandmother trained her children well. Her eldest daughter (now passed away an amazing 7 years this week) was the one she cared about. My mother is the house frau. Her son is unable to tell her no and here lies the problem.


It's more a weight off my mother since 99.5% of grandma's care falls to her. i'm over 200 miles away and have no way or inclination to run home for a week of granny guarding duty should they try this plan (and mom knows better even if i were closer. I'm more likely to shuffle her off this mortal coil. She doesn't much like me and spends all her time telling me how everything I do/think/believe is wrong)

re: Grandma, all I can say is WHAT? how is it you are related to people who seem to have no clue whatsoever. plus you fought so hard to get her to go there, where it seems like she is so much better off. and probably secretly enjoying herself with all the extra activity.

Castle, season 3 just started here.... I so want to love this show, and I keep watching but.. to clever for it`s own good, maybe its that Nathan Fillian just smirks a bit too much (and he is one of the worlds best smirkers). Still his mom and daughter are the best ever. and I always have hope so I hang in.,..

I think the problem is (barring my uncle, points up to my response to bobfish) my cousins only ever came out on holidays. They only saw the grandma who cooks for 100 when there's 10 people. THey aren't there every day to see how much of a rampaging bitch she is or how much she uses my mom and my uncle (and me and my brother) as her servants not her kin. And now she literally needs everything done and my mom's nearly 70. she deserves not to have to keep doing this.

I am shocked I like Castle. I saw the premise and thought this has been done for like a decade and we called it Murder She Wrote. Granted Nathan is much better looking. Smug characters like Richard Castle turn me off but I ended up loving him. I could do without the Castle/Beckett UST (i firmly believe they can be just as sexy if they ARE a couple as this prolonged will they/ won't they). His daughter and mom are complete delights to me. I don't expect the show to be accurate at all (unlike say the serious cop shows where I expect something vaguely believeable).

Agreed, except instead of just as, I would say way more. Less Murder she wrote, more Hart to Hart;) ........ honestly though, I love nathan Fillian (even this chunked up version) but I think he needs a litte dark or imperfection. He was so awesome as Caleb,or as flawed Mal, and well, Captain Hammer (corporate tool), what can I say.

Maybe you could suggest to your cousins a trial run where grandma stays with them for a few weeks so they can kinda get the picture.

Sorry about grandma. That's just a really hard place to be, especially as you seem to be the only one willing to vocalize that she shouldn't come home. You think people would listen to the doctor of the family...

LJ alerts has been doing the same thing to me. Sometimes it'll alert me of some things but not others, or just nothing at all. It's pretty random.

Well mom does vocalize it pretty well or at least tells them she will N OT be doing the care taking (she only lives 7 minutes up the road. see, she should have moved further) It is hard on families when this time comes. I've seen it so many times whil i was practicing.

Yeah LJ is moving to larger servers again so I think things are a bit freaked out. I didn't get any alerts on this post but got them all on the dante thing.
