it's 2 A.M. and I'm finally home
Jun. 5th, 2011 02:00 amSo it turns out that the hydralics were the least of my worries. My plane in Seattle is late. We board and find out the reason it was late was they had a medical emergency and now the oxygen and other supplies are depleted. it'll be '10 minutes' for the contractor to replace it. Nearly 2 hours later this finally happens, meanwhile we're trapped on a packed air-bus.
At this point we're all in a fine panic because nearly everyone has connectors in Philly. NONE of us are going to make it and these were the last planes out for the night so we all might need to stay in Philly. USAir (which wanted 9 dollars for food, half a sandwich or fruit and cheese, thanks no, i'll eat the muffin I grabbed in Seattle for dinner) busted their butts to get us through the rough skies so they wouldn't have to pay to put up an airbus full of people. We landed but can't get to the terminal since someone left equipment on the tarmac so we wait for that to be moved
Philly has a stupid system. they only put up flights departing in that concourse. I am in another one. We're all running (literally, the FMA messenger bag had a camera, two books, my wallet, my netbook and other sundries in it, banging off my thigh which is now bruised). We get there, the gate was changed, race to a different gate to find out they changed the flight time.
I get on the plane. There is NO food places open in Philly so that muffin really was dinner. I get to Pittsburgh, call the parents to come get me. My luggage is destroyed, the inside support of one is shattered and the wiring and zippers torn off the other. there is no place to whine about this. My parents' car has trouble and they had to double back and get mine.
don't you wish you could travel with me?

Date: 2011-06-05 12:41 pm (UTC)And airlines are raising their prices yet again. They shouldn't be surprised when they don't make so much.

Date: 2011-06-05 12:53 pm (UTC)Let's not think about how they could be worse.
Really? They would've had to pay? I wonder if that's changed, because they sure didn't offer anything like that when I was traveling and missed my flight that one time.

Date: 2011-06-05 04:56 pm (UTC)I can update you on it when we fly them to Newark in September, but really -- Southwest rocks.
At least the destination itself was great, if the travel wasn't!

Date: 2011-06-05 07:51 pm (UTC)I know Southwest does have really limited hubs, unfortunately; but they ARE expanding. It's just this month they've started going to New York (which is how we managed to book).
