I was afraid of this
Jul. 18th, 2011 09:41 pmBorders is now closing all stores. One news article held my greatest fear in all of this Publishers said with Borders gone, they would plan for smaller print runs and shipments. Yeah, that's just it. Online is great but people do not browse online the way they do in stores (witness what happened to the music industry once record stores closed). It almost feels like why bother writing. Oh, because it's in me and I have to but the buying online is going to change books forever and I'm thinking not in the best of ways. I have yet to find an easy to navigate site and I get pissed off about 3 minutes into trying to browser them and give up, having bought nothing.
I've also learned I don't mind ereader commericals that atoll the benefits of ereaders. I DO mind greatly when they try to make you look like an idiot for wanting a book. I've yet to find an ereader that didn't hurt my eyes, kindle being the worst offender.
I took Roy to the vet. It must have been a painful visit. I can't even aim a camera at his neck. Once shaved up the lesion is pretty evenly round. She thinks (and I had that thought myself) he got warbled. A warble or bot fly larva probably chewed his way out of Roy's neck. He got antibiotic shots and now I have the liquid amoxicillin. Have I mentioned Roy is a master of spitting? Roy -1 antibiotics -0. He managed to get a measly 1 1/2 ml of fluid on my arm, my clothes, my leg, my foot and the carpet. I swear it magnified in his mouth. the vet was stunned by Soul's behavior and had no suggestions
I think i might have hurt the bad arm. The pain is increasing steadily oddly NOT at the site where they moved the tendon but where they cut out the bursa and the collar bone which should be much better by now. also touched my levator scapula (shoulder muscle) and about went thru the roof. will tell PT's tomorrow.
Also the last two days have been utterly miserable here. Even though yesterday more and this morning it was in the 70's it was like walking into a sauna. It felt like someone was dragging a wet veil over my face. It's raining but it's supposed to be BAD. if they cancel school again tomorrow I'm gonna be pissed.

Blue himalaya poppies. I bought some seeds. They are so notoriously hard to grow there was a huge instruction thing inserted into the package. whee

Date: 2011-07-19 01:49 am (UTC)Soul....well....hate to say this...but some cats just go bonkers for no particular reason. Have been companions to a few like that.

Date: 2011-07-19 03:16 am (UTC)yes so Soul might be rehomed, maybe even with the vet on her farm

Date: 2011-07-19 01:51 am (UTC)Ewww, I hadn't even thought about a bot fly. Ewwww! We used to shave the eggs off the horses in Florida.
But I like browsing in book stores...I guess the little niche stores that haven't been run off by the big name stores might make a comeback?

Date: 2011-07-19 03:14 am (UTC)once I saw it was a perfectly punctate wound bot fly did enter my mind. yeah FL half the damn squirrels had bots
someone suggested that about niche stores but as more stuff goes to ebooks, probably not and yes i LIKE being physically in a store, seeing things. I shop so much less now that it's all online

Date: 2011-07-19 03:32 am (UTC)Poor Roy! Dickens is a champion spitter, too.
Yeah, Soul may need a home where there's not much upheaval and he can stay half-feral. :-(
Get that arm checked out!

Date: 2011-07-19 04:05 am (UTC)geez, these cats. Yes that's what I'm afraid about Soul
will talk to the PT tomorrow. I think some of it is muscle spasms in areas I can not release myself

Date: 2011-07-19 12:51 pm (UTC)I can't use an ereader either. Hell, trying to read a large article even on this monitor for my desktop and I can get a headache. :S I happen to *LIKE* my dead trees, dammit!
I have actually removed a maggot/warble from a kitten. One of the few things that has ever really grossed me out. Good luck with the antibiotics + cat.
Soul's behavior is very strange. Especially since it is getting worse, rather than better.
I hope that you didn't screw something up.
It is only 0830 here and the AC has already kicked on. UGH! Thank God for night shift, eh??

Date: 2011-07-19 01:02 pm (UTC)*sigh* Ah, Soul. Why do you have to be such a wacky kitten.
Ugh, bots. The mini had bot eggs on his legs last summer and I had to use the slicker brush to get them off. Nasty, nasty things.
Edit the second: And that really sucks about the Borders. Usually when I get manga, Borders always had the larger selection than B&N. :/ Might have to order it online now to get the volumes or order it through B&N.

Date: 2011-07-19 09:24 pm (UTC)Soul is losing it
bots are so gross
Borders has a WAY bigger collection of manga andB&N will not carry any homosexual manga (not that I read yaoi much but I find it offensive to be censored)
