Well I've all but finished my holiday novella, I Want You For Christmas. The title comes from a 1930's Christmas song (granted 6 years later than the story is set but oh well). It's you a really subtle title for my holiday erotica...snerk. Thanks to evil_little_dog, winters_queen, bay115 & wilderider for the betas. Thank you ladies very much. It's appreciated.

So, I'm still swamped and I wanted more of a post than just that so let me consider my nano which is barely two MONTHs away (OMG WTF where did the year go?). I still have it narrowed to two and you guys did weigh in once before b ut notice I've not yet been swayed one way or the other.

The Living Goddess story - pure fantasy setting, non-earth but is more modern tech than traditional swords and sorcery. Two warring factions, the ruling class who have living goddesses as part of their religious observances (ala the devi in Tibet) and the recently oppressed faction who were beat down by a slowly maddening king a decade before.

Pros - I have written a few chapters and know the major characters well, I have some scenes in my head, has strong female characters

Cons - the scenes in my head are more of the homey character building kind rather than action or plot, I started this years ago and put it aside to work on other things, the strong females are already losing ground in my head to the males, it's MUCH harder to get a non-erotica novel published.


The demon Hunters story - set in 1930's Pittsburgh, urban fantasy revolving around the Soldiers of the Sun, Caleb, Agni and Temple, a Temple's new partner. They'll be fighting demons naturally but that's all I know of the plot, other than Temple's Knights Templar family is involved.

Pros - I have two scenes already done, I know these boys inside and out, Dreamspinner press has published one of their stories and will soon have two of their stories in their inbox, it's easier to get an erotica novel published (sorry, but it is), I think this would be the easier story to write

cons - I would like to write more than just erotica (though I did do non-erotica last year), I literally just have those two scenes in my head and one more for the Temple family strife subplot and nothing more, if I finish it and DSP doesn't want it, I may be contractually obligated years before I could ship it around, it requires research and research = distractions

I'd love to see more of the goddess world, personally; I liked those characters a lot. However, writing a novel that could possibly be sold with some stories already printed and possibly some built in fans is really nice.

So I'm on the wall. I think you'd have a better chance with Temple, et al.

Nano, thank heavens, is TWO months away, which means I should be able to play along even though work is threatening to be a bear for the next while.

But yeah, October does get sucked up by planning nano.

I'm going to check out the new SMG show. But other than that, it's work and contemplating my nano project.

there are a few cop shows I might try. I'll look at the SMG thing but I can already tell I am not going to like it just from teh description.

I still think you should go for the goddess story. That sounds very fun and I'm sure you can be able to market it to an agent/publishing house that specializes in fantasy/sci-fi. As for scenes that are more homey character building, LOL that's how my fmabigbang is like for the first couple of chapters, but I think that shouldn't be that much of a problem.

thanks for the input. I'm still undecided (You know I might wait and see what happens with the other two demon hunter things. if they pick them up then I'll probably go with that)

well there is nothing wrong with homey scenes unless that's all yuo have and you aren't writing some slice of life story

well I sure hope so. one way or another I will end up doing both. Though I have to admit for this story I stole one of my OC's from an FMA story (Dev in Source of Sorrow and Sorrow's Dark Array AND in my planned big bang)
