Want to know how many times I've heard that from another woman? More times than I can remember. (Guys, never). I heard it twice today, once from the nurse and once from the PA who was doing my surgery pre-op. Yeah, the rosacea has been wrecking my pretty skin and starting to do permanent damage. The option here is have a laser to the face. WHich I'm told will hurt because there is no anaesthesia. Um so we're going to BURN my face with no pain killers...okay I'm game. Oh btw you might not be able to work for a day or two since your face might be red swollen with weeping blisters. They only do this on wed. Thursday is my one day a week class. I guess I'll be teaching looking like the elephant woman. The idea here is to destroy tiny capillaries that are causing the disfiguring coloration. It might take several applications of the laser over months. Well aren't I ever so glad to hear that. I'm set to go in in Nov. Nothing screams help for nano like a laser to the face.

I tried to finish up Ghost Story so I could return it to the library. Stayed up to 2 AM. Then before 7 the phone rings. I figure someone died or something. No. My parents are taking a two-trip to the Erie Canal and Fort Niagra. Mom noticed that the old Giant Eagle is now a Hobby Lobby and just HAD to tell me. Mom, do I need to know this before the sun is fully up? Besides, it's the devil's store. Stay away.

I am full of chile rellanos. Yum.

Somehow I have missed the wank on [livejournal.com profile] saiyuki I am rather glad of it. I AM wondering if it's on the one post that I thought a couple people had the absolutely rudest reactions to someone actually asking for gen stories over NC-17

Got this meme from Rain.

I am SO amused that the religion I was actually raised in ranked 26th out of 27. I love the pagentry of the Catholic church but their stance on just about everything in a social context just isn't me.

I came out two kinds of Buddhist on the meme, followed by Sikhism(!) and Taoism. Apparently I like to go with the flow, spiritually speaking. I am also more Quaker than thee. And no, I can't see you being a good Catholic. You think way too much.

How could Hobby Lobby be the devil's store when they play hymns on the PA system and close on Sundays? The owners would be appalled. Hobby Lobby _is_ a big wallet suck, though. I wish they'd issue coupons more often.

The grotto is cute, but looks kind of stuffy in summer. I do like that the walls are thick, ergo fairly soundproof. I swear I'm going to build an underground bunker in my back yard someday just to get away from the neighborhood noise. It's hard to concentrate around here, never mind meditate.

Hobby Lobby still doesn't hold a candle to the Mitsukoshi department store at Epcot for being a money suck. I don't know what kind of sales juju the Japanese have, but you might as well hand all your credit cards to the smiling salesladies when you walk in, because you'll be leaving with way more than you ever planned on purchasing.

The two shrieking little kids in the rental house behind us nearly drove me crazy. Five of the little monsters would either send me out to live in the woods or drive me to homicide. I don't know how you (and the other non-kid-owners in the complex) stand it.

hahahaha I'm not sure I ever made it there. I only went to epcot once I think.

and that's just HER kids. the one next to her has 2, the one on the other side has a baby. there are none in my building but the one facing me has three and there are three more in the other and none are over the age of 10. Weeps

I LOVE THAT LITTLE BUILDING!!! looks kinda like a cold storage or a spring house or something... For what it's worth I don't think you're fat at all. I have struggled with my weight all my life as well, when I get my Madame Christmas coat finished I'll show you how big I am.

I'm with you on the religion thing, I love the pageantry as well but their views... sheesh. As it is I scored Neo Pagan as #1, which is exactly what I practice.

Lazer to the face? FUCK THAT. If I wanna fry my face without anesthesia I'll go fire up the grill and faceroll. You got balls chick. Bigger ones than me.

I'm 100 pounds overweight and diabetic as a result, sadly. Did you ever see my Chris cosplay?

sometimes I do pagan, sometiems buddhist, whatever i"m feeling.

haha yeah well my face looks red and flushed 24/7 now so I need to do something

I would LOVE to see your Chris cosplay! I don't have mine all together yet. I need to finish the coat and find a big fake gold necklace. If I can ever find time I really want to finish it, but my son eats up so much of my time these days. I wanna break in my new sewing machine already! (it's only been new in the box for almost 15 years...)

sometimes my religious views vary too. Probably because I'm afraid I'm choosing the wrong one and it will come down to me dying and finding out the Heaven's Gate cult had it right the whole time. What a pisser that would be.

took forever to remember where it was. I DO have a better dress now. Still not perfect but better and since it was hot as hell in there you can see the areas of my face that are gonna get lasered (i look like i ran a mile)

snort. i have had that thought from time to time

From: [identity profile] sonjajade.livejournal.com
oooh I love it! I am not completely happy with the dress I have either, but if I could just sit down at the sewing machine!!! *waaaaah!!*

I should go take pictures so I can show you! I have a magenta colored maxi dress that I need to shorten by at least 20". It hits the damn floor when I wear it. And since it's like a tube top, I can use the material I cut off to at least make a modified bodice so I can wear a regular bra with it. The material I got for the jacket is just plain cotton. I didn't want a heavy jacket because I get so hot. Then I got the biggest size pearls the craft store had and made the necklace and I've got a pair of cute vintage flats that will look good with it. And my hair is naturally like hers. Once I get it done, I've got a friend who does photography and she said she would go with me to a bar so I could do some good shots to put on my deviant art.

If I was really good at sewing, I'd make my husband a Braeda cosplay, because he looks just like him except for the glasses.

btw, since were sorta in the same vicinity, what con did you go to? I wanted to go to Anime World Chicago and Ramencon (same weekend, same place, 3 FMA voice actors but I couldn't swing it) I have never been to one and I want to go.

Date: 2011-09-01 04:20 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
my new dress is more brown with a hint of purple. I could NOT find a purple dress and the ones I do find are all wrong in the bodice. My hand is too messed up to cut fabric any more.

haha that could be fun seeing him as breda.

I usually drive up to the one in Columbus OH which is small but less than 2 hours away. I occasionally go to Boston con.

I would like to go to the one in Atlanta but the problem is cost and time off. Almost none of them are in the darn summer when I'm off and I can't see paying affair for what would amount to one saturday.

You should come to Louisville, we have a huge old cemetery called Cave Hill. It's where Col. Sanders from KFC is buried. There's a military cemetery inside as well, one for both sides of the Civil War, and it's just plain awesome. I know where lots of little family cemeteries are in the city too, like the one in Brown park, or the one in the shopping center parking lot... My grandma and I used to go visit cemeteries together.

I'm sorry to hear about your skin. My hair has always been my "you have such beautiful" feature, and half of it fell out due to vitamin D deficiency. I finally was diagnosed a few months ago, bur thank god my fix was as easy as taking supplements. That laser treatment sounds awful.

ha. oh i forgot to mention on the other post, I was actually planning on using the pain after a massage and the toxins possibly in my nano but I wasn't 100% sure someone would do that over burn scars (a decade healed). i figured why not PT manipulates fresh ones to keep the scarring down

Re: YUMOLA

Yes. You can massage over scarring. In fact the muscle probably needs it more, since I would imagine in that situation it would get less normal movement. ;)

that's the idea. Granted it's not earth but a world with tech levels about 1920/30. I'm envisioning this woman as a holistic styled doc. The young man in question was burnt badly in the war and has lost an arm. just the less than good fitting prosthesis alone is probably causing him muscle imbalance pain.

as for me. the triceps and deltoid feel like someone opened my skin and inserted marbles. at least it lasted 3 days this time before retightening. at least I can get to these areas myself to massage them back out

Gleh? That sounds like something I would not be doing to my face. Thankfully I can use my miracle set which is dealing with my rosacea quite admirably. (good housekeeping seal of approval on that too). If it didn't, I'm not sure I'd want to do that to my face no matter how much more brilliant the redness became. At any rate as far as cosmetic issues are concerned, it sounds super expensive and definitely isn't something I could afford... I don't think I can even afford to keep my teeth at this point. Maybe some of them... but I can't afford to not keep them either, since having ONE tooth pulled by a general dentist last month cost more than twice what having 4 pulled by a oral maxillofacial surgeon cost me 15 years ago. Ugh... (and paid more than 10 times that each for the two crowns I DID manage to get, most of which was out of pocket when I was less financially devastated.) I understand wanting it fixed. don't get me wrong, especially if you've always been blessed with a porcelain complexion, then a little vanity might be in order. Just don't think I could do it. I'd rather stay red and veiny. Or is that capillary-ey? haha!

I think I get rated as a Unitarian Universalist pretty often too. I'm Gaian, but my clerical registration actually is through the UU. So I guess in that way I am a Unitarian. My friends were recently married in a Unitarian Church and had a very nice pagan ceremony in the back yard. The church even had a walk down to a formal circle for observances under a little hill where it was sheltered from the road and any prying eyes. Nothing for anyone to see or even know about unless they pulled in the lot and went exploring in the back yard. Nothing to see to passers by and curiosity seekers but a little church built in a house with a little gravel parking lot. Nothing unusual about it at all other than the sign saying "Open Minds Welcome."

Date: 2011-09-03 02:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cornerofmadness.livejournal.com
yeah I wouldn't have been doing this except for the permanent damage the rosacea did. I have that under control now but not soon enough.

yeah denistry is bad.

well that's cool. I didn't know you had a clerical registration
