So this morning I slept 6 hours before trotting off to the bathroom (ah diabetes) but that was still and hour and a half before my alarm so I went back to bed and my brain did this to me.

I thought the alarm had gone off and I went to turn it off but I couldn't move. Slowly out of the mattress a pair of disembodied arms wrapped around me pinning me against something hard. I could hear his voice in my head, laughing at me but i still couldn't move. He kept saying all the nasty things he'd do if he didn't get what he wanted from whomever he was holding me hostage for.

Eventually I got a little bored waiting on him and thought this had to be a dream. After that, I 'woke up' to find out I massively overslept but when i got up I noticed no clock had the same time. Even the tv guide via dish had a different time every time I checked. I was asking mom to call work for me and tell them I was sick but I was upset because I had a very important meeting today (I do).

Then I really did wake up. Sleep paralysis? thanks brain.

Oh wow, what a freaky dream. Those ones that seem so real like that are so disturbing sometimes.

wow your dreams.
I've been taking some local romanian tea to help me sleep at night due to stress at work and I've been having some wild dreams which normally i don't. Bought it at the farmers market, i suppose i really should have somebody translate the instructions.

You have my sympathy on the freaky dreams -- I have them galore, along with really bad night terrors that have me waking up screaming and crying like crazy - I've had them as far back as I can remember. Some of them are like my brain is finding my mental achilles heels and poking at them with little pointy sticks on purpose, and leave me haunted for days. Some of them are just fucking weird.

I had one the other night where my gray tabbie, Gracie, horked up a live frog, then continued horking and started actually turning herself inside out. I forced myself to wake up before it got totally unbearable (I can take almost anything BUT something happening to my cats.)

Since I mostly fail at lucid dreaming as a way to change them, I'm working on learning how to make myself wake up as a way of gaining control over the bad dreams - sometimes it works, sometimes not - but sometimes is better than having to endure all of them to the bitter end. Even my neutral dreams are very odd, and my happy ones can be really funny - I've also woken myself up laughing.

Sometimes I think I lead a more active and varied life in my five hours of sleep a night than I do in my waking life....

Definitely. You're lucky to have a brain like that.

Sounds like it's almost a lucid dream. Yeah, sleep paralysis. Been there. Hated that.

When I was in high school, I had a series of sleep paralysis dreams that I was being strangled and was trying to scream for help. I always woke up with a sore throat.
