Sep. 23rd, 2011 09:59 pmand Kanda has been taken care of. The vet kept saying 'wow, he's your buddy' because poor Kanda was trying to meld with my skin. I got him more antibiotics and had his neck shaved. The wound naturally is half healed by now but it IS three weeks out so it's very slow to heal. We talked about Soul. She's never heard of a cat pooping outside of the box to mark territory. She agrees he may be insane. After the porch incident she thinks he wouldn't fair well in her barn but worse comes to worse that's where he's going. As for Kanda he had to have vaccines too so he's pretty upset. He's all head down and refusing to look at me or the others. I guess if someone shaved me and jammed 3 needles into my back fat I wouldn't be having the best day either.
I'm rereading Fahrenheit 451 for banned book week. I'll be reading it on video (if I get a link, I'll share). Reread, ha. It's been nearly 30 years since I've read it and I barely remember it (besides it's creepy opening line). Speaking of creepy, this book brings it, especially now. Bradbury predicted our world. This was published in '53. Montag's wife, like most of the population, doesn't interact with the world anymore. They sit in their parlors interacting with the people on the tv screens. They're each others friends and family. Look at what you're doing right now, staring at a screen talking to your friends and family while others are out there trying to restrict access to knowledge and ideas. Yeah...creepy.
in my nursing class, I have one lone h.s. teacher wannabe and she approached me in the other class she has with me (she needs the human phys because she needs one more 400 level biology before her student teaching starts) and she was horrified at how horrible my students are, facebooking, talking, tweeting etc in class. I'm like y ep, I know and next week, I hand them their tests along with their heads.

Poor Kanda. The white half moon on one side of the bloody wound is the scar from how big the damn hole was in his neck.

This is the informal breakfast nook. Yeah...contemplate THOSE words. I want everything in here

Date: 2011-09-24 02:06 am (UTC)I like that the vet thinks Soul's insane. Is he one of Gollum's children, too?
I need to read Fahrenheit 451. I love most of Bradbury's works.

Yes he's one of Gollum's boys

Date: 2011-09-24 03:31 am (UTC)Kanda needs hugs. And Desserts!
That explains a lot, right there. Gollum was so...odd.
I'm sure I will. I've wanted to see the movie forever.

I've never seen the movie

Yeah, I thought they were sibs of some sort. Gollum needs to be fixed. Or something.
I haven't either. I'm pretty sure Rock Hudson is the star.

I have no idea

Date: 2011-09-24 09:29 pm (UTC)That's probably for the best, Gollum going missing.
That's what I remember reading, at least. I was kind of surprised a SF story would cast Hudson.

Date: 2011-09-24 02:30 am (UTC)Crazy Soul.
I need to read Fahrenheit 451, in my quest to read banned books myself (which is why I just read Slaughterhouse 5... or just books with numbers in the title).

Date: 2011-09-24 02:35 am (UTC)Soul just ain't right
It's an easy read but aggravating in that you can see it happening here with people wanting to ban things as innocent as Harry Potter

Date: 2011-09-24 02:33 am (UTC)I think I might go to the library and check out Farenheit 451, we didn't have to read it in school, or animal farm, or catcher in the rye or any or those other famous titles and at the time I was too busy smoking weed and blaring Metallica to give a shit XD

Date: 2011-09-24 02:38 am (UTC)It's been a few years since I read Fahrenheit 451 (had to read it as summer assignment for 10th grade English Honors in high school) and I remember not liking it for some reason, haha. One of my friends love it, though, so I'm considering reading it again one day. You're right though it's pretty creepy the book more or less predicts what is happening now. ._.;

Date: 2011-09-24 02:54 am (UTC)well that's about when I read it too (which is a lot longer ago for me than you). I wanted to reread some of the things of my youth
