Survived another thanksgiving
Nov. 24th, 2011 11:44 pmDidn't think that I would there for a while. Dad brined the turkey and then wanted to cook it in his new toy, an infra red fryless cooker (between Nov being cold and damp here, not to mention the cost of cooking oil, we're no longer frying turkeys). However somehow he and mom miscommunicated or something. Either way the rest of the dinner wasn't done on time which was cause for much yelling.
But the turkey was just fine, very good in fact, and I have to admit, I was glad it wasn't the whole family here. I have lost my taste (not that I had much of one) for big family gatherings ESPECIALLY with relatives who show up maybe bringing one side dish and expecting to cart home enough food for days and brought the containers to do just that.
Things I'm thankful for: My flist, my betas, what little health I have and my writer's imagination. (and there's another thank you to the betas over in

I need more time to write and I think mom wants to head to mall like at midnight.
Snippet of the day (where in Sverre is suddenly full of hobbies and hopes for the futher I knew nothing about prior to)
"Hope we weren't too late for lunch. We had to accompany Charis while she placed a prearranged call to her sister that took longer than expected as we had a time of it trying to appease Savaria Mercy. She apparently disliked soldiers."
"Somehow that doesn't surprise me. Drop your things here. We can take it to your room later," Mrs. Drake said. Sverre wasn't paying attention to the sounds of bags hitting the floor. He was fascinated by the glass fronted book case next to the fire place. He loved to read but books were another luxury he was rarely exposed to. Occasionally a trading party would have one or two tucked away and more often than not it wasn't something he really enjoyed reading.
